Plans and Laser cut Kit’s now available for the Gemini V-2 on our Website:
Flight Testing the Gemini Version 2 High Altitude Long Duration FPV/UAV:
Climbed very slowly to altitude, keeping a reserve in the battery. Then Descended in a shallow dive, bleeding off altitude.
The total time for the flight was 2 hrs, and 2 minutes. Maximum altitude reached was 4008 meters or 13,159.6 ft. That’s very nearly 2 1/2 miles high! Part of the flight was in instrument conditions, and the plane was flown manually without an autopilot. 6 cameras were on board for the flight.
1-Pilot’s FPV camera with pan tilt servos
2-Observer camera (Dad cam)with pan tilt servos
3-GoPro hero 3+ mounted externally under the nose
4-GoPro hero 2 set to take video in mapping tray compartment.
5-GoPro hero 2 set to take stills(over 700) also in mapping tray
6-Mobius mounted externally to top of horizontal tail (used external power supply)
The GoPro 2 set to take video in the mapping tray shut off due to low battery most of the way throughout the flight. The flight was made below gross weight, and the altitude was achieved at a very low rate of climb, while simultaneously achieving a fairly long duration flight, so it’s clear that much more altitude is possible. This entire flight was made with the Immersionrc control system Tx on low power.

We took lots of precautions for this flight, and we have a safe place to do it. Always be careful to minimize risk to others and be responsible!
Nice man! Beautiful video))
very nice. how high you want to go? 20000ft?
Another very good video!
very nice set up
On next flight can you mount one camera with no-distortion lens? Seems
every go-pro or any other camera has wide-angle or fish-eye lens. Curious
what horizon looks like in high altitude. Amazing work.
Awesome flight, great video and music!
May i know flight controller / stabilization controller do you use? and
what LRS transmitter do you use?
did you use an antenna tracker for the video link ?
Very impressive. Sadly here in the US we won’t be able to do anything like
that now with the new FAA regulations.
awesome flight guys
Good flight. I see, landed with the engine running? Still there was to
reserve batteries? Whether rotating on stream?
Hi, I contacted you last year. I’m interested in this plane, but I do not
have the time to build it. Please think about it selling this ARF . Maybe
just wood build without covering or something. I will be a professional UAV
pilot and searching for fixed wing planes which can fly a long time. In the
Netherlands the plane has to be certified. Means it costs us 2000 euro. So
the plane will be checked structural and electrical. The plane will be used
on trips to foreign countries.
This plane will never stop impressing me. I wish that I got this instead of
the skyhunter, but maybe Ill buy this next time. You are so high and the
scenery looks so different than in America. In what country do you live,
because it is so beautiful there.
I’m baffled. Good job!
In what country was this flight? Obviously one with little aviation
activity in this area.
i know the video’s kind of old, but i just found your channel. so, if you
added some powerfilm or other thin film solar cells to the surfaces you
would be able to recover some voltage during glide periods , no? i think
you said in this video the glide back was around 40 minutes, i wonder if
you could do some quick math to see what kind of flight time gains could be
achieved with the current design specs based on the wing surface area and
nominal/peak average of powerfilm , the extra weight (not much) and any
additional drag (again, probably negligible). obvious idea i know, its
being done more and more these days now with the availability going up and
even big companies planning to incorporate high altitude unmanned solar
flight systems for telecom, pseudo-satellite type stuff – really cool check
out airbus Zephyr
plans for toying around with solar or something like this in the future for
how mutch power TX output
thank you :-)
Hi. what RC and telemetry LONG RANGE You use. I’m beginner but I like very
much your videos, I’m subscribe in your page.
I´ve RC Spektrum 9ch with DragonLink connect in other planes but no fly as
yet. Your planes and videos are amazing!!! thxs
And I can’t even get 300 feet with my setup.
Any thoughts on putting the newer super-thin and light solar cells on the
upper wing surfaces? There are single engine planes already on solar with
sustaining battery life- they never run out. You could at least
significantly increase duration this way…
Where do you buy this model?
thats bad ass two thumbs up if i could, absolutely amazing footage and
very cool plane..i want one now
