Battery Testing 5S with 6″ Quadcopter20:32

Testing batteries / props / motors / in my journey to making a reliable 5S 6″ quadcopter.

Frame – 250 Martian
Motors – Cobra 2206 2100kv
ESC – Spedix 30A w/ 470uF capacitors
Prop – Gemfan 6040 triblade GF
FC – Omnibus F3 AIO
VTX – TBS Unify
Cam – Runcam Swift2
Batteries – Mylipo.de Parcour 4S 1600mah, Chinahobbyline 5S 1300mah

Debrief:
After my first full day switching back and forth from 4S to 5S, the difference is very significant as to how much more thrust can be generated with the 5S battery, as well as the definite advantage of using a 6″ prop to take advantage of the extra volts. In my honest opinion the bigger potential energy of the 5S gets wasted if you put it on a 5″ prop and the faster prop speed goes to waste unless you have an extremely aggressive prop pitch.

My biggest concern was smoking the motors as i’ve been having issues with overheating. However after initial tests with 4S leaving the motors cool to the touch, and easy runs on 5S having only normal warm temps, it may have been an issue with over aggressive pids as they were a carry over from my 5″ setup.

At the end of the day I noticed a motor magnet slipping so unfortunately this rig will need maintenance to get back in the air.
