The UDI U818A Quad copter offers 6 axis gyro stabilization and sports a cool UFO look!
The UDI 818A offers new and experienced pilots both a 6 axis stabilized quadcopter that is capable of loops and high speed flight. 2 flight modes offer enhanced performance. Everything you need for alien missions is included in the box. Just add (4) AA batteries for the transmitter.
Speaking of transmitters, the UDI U818A is controlled by a state of the art 2.4GHZ transmitter. You can switch between flight modes by pushing a button on the remote. When you get comfortable with how the quad handles and feels, pushing one button on the transmitter switches the quad to high performance mode for high speed flight. The protective body helps guard against crash and collision damage.
One special feature about this U818A is the onboard camera. You can now film videos and take pictures via controls from the 2.4ghz transmitter. A push of a button allows you to take snapshots or record live footage, media is stored on a micro sd card (not included) up to 8gb.
The U818A features advanced flight stabilization with its built in 6 axis gyro. This keeps the quadcopter level and stable and translates to less control inputs needed from the pilot to maintain a hover. The stabilization system also aids flying in light winds.
The UDI U818A is almost double the size of the U816A. Its the U816A’s bigger brother.
it’s medium quad ))) not good and not bad ))
compared to V262 how is it
Just as crappy
There must be something wrong with mine. I can not get it to stabilize. and
I can’t get the side trim to set, it always goes to the right no matter
where I set the trim at.
And of course the place I bought it at is closed till this winter at the
local mall. Go figure.
Check how easy the props spin, one motor probably has bad bearings and has
a higher drag. If all are the same then move the motors around to different
arms and see if the veer direction changes. The only other thing it might
be is the trim pot is bad, if you can see a change when you adjust the trim
then its probably not that.
+Chad Steele
I can adjust the trim, and it will help it a bit, but not much. It won’t
stabilize to the point where it will fly straight and level.
There was a bad gear with stripped teeth, but I changed it out, and the
rotors spin freely on all 4 motors. I will move the motors around next time
I get the chance and see if it will help.
Thanks for the help.
Mistake I made after nearly ripping it out of the box, was failing to place
it on a flat, level surface when linking with transmitter & instead, just
holding it in my spastic, joy-filled mitt. Probably obvious to you, but
those of us overcome with giddiness, or on too much sugar to read the
instructions carefully, learn this the hard way.
+John Healey
I don’t remember if mine was on a flat surface or not. Is there a way to
start all over again with this and re-link it?
You guys should seriously make a massive spreadsheet that has every single
quadcopter and all their features.
Just to clarify that my quadcopter was ready to fly straight out the box as
described here but connecting the video camera cable took a bit more
effort…. for anyone wondering where the socket is for the video cable,
I’ve just performed the “operation” … the socket is in the central
circuit board located under the flimsy piece of plastic in the middle.
First remove the 4 screws (2 on each side) which will allow you to take
this flimsy piece of plastic off. You can now see the underside of the
circuit board, but to plug in the camera, you want to see the topside of it
… so you next need to unclip the arms leading to the rotors from the main
plastic body. Finally you’ll be able to see the circuit board. The socket
for the video camera clips in the only available free slot (it was white
plastic on mine) on the circuit board. Finally clip everything back in
place and screw everything up again and you have a working camera! Just
taken my first video and it works fine! Hope that helps for anyone facing
the same situation.
can you live stream with this????
The camera on this unit cannot transmit live video feed to a monitor.
U need to take the whole camera apart, cut the wires, than connect it to a
gopro, than hook up the go pro to ur phone. But it will make no sense, the
drone is really weak, and won’t be able to carry anything. I modded the
whole drone
I have this unit and it works good. I would like to see a quad that’s
autonomous and looks like an hk from the terminator movie-now that’s one I
would buy!
Xheli is sold out so i ordered it fro m another place BUT
I ordered the 7″ UFO from xheli
I’m fascinated by these things!
This is the same as lrp h4 gravit
Lots of quads are like this and there are some differences
Can you upgrade the camera?!
What’s is the best quad that I could get for under $50
None
None
syma x5c
We’ll the udi u818a is a bit bigger that the syma x5c and is more protected
but the syma x5c is more stable
I have one and when I fly it it moves to the left a little. why?
@Sean Horgan Have you tried trimming out the quad?
Excellent review my friend.
For some reason my quadcopter won’t lift off… When I’m in mode 1, or 2,
it just won’t work, not even with a full battery. Can someone please
respond to this? Ill really aprieciate it :)
If you search how to set up the udi u818a you will find out your problem
Check out this review video for the quad i want to fly
I want to get one do you know where the best price is
Amazon
+Innovation Thanks that was the one I was looking at
On a fully charged battery how long is the flight time?
Flying Time: 6-9 minutes
such a rip off 6 -7 min . of flight
Which sounds about right with all these mini copters. What do you want 40
minutes?
I’m nodding the whole drone cause it sucks. How do I change the transmitter
is the problem
Hi, i want to make this udi quadcopter autonomously fly and capture
pictures. Is there any software that could control this? Any suggestion
would be appretiated. Thanks.
There is video mode and camera mode also there are 2 modes one is stable
two is fast or rowdy
there is not option for autonomous flying.
what other battery can you use in this thing? 6 minutes its too damn short!
for the exact same spare battery.
Can someone tell me how to get the footage from the camera?
You take the memory card out of the camera after you took a video then put
it in your computer
+Erik TheRandom what program can I watch my videos on? Windows media player
will not play my footage….
I got this UDI u817A for Christmas this year. Is there a number to contact
somebody? The light is suppose t turn green when fully charged but mine has
never turned green even after 24 hour charge. Does any else have this
problem? Plus the button on the left of the controller (the one for
trimming next to the throttle direction) fake? I’m not talking about the
direct trimmer. One last question how do you erase things such as pictures
and video?
The charger light is red when it’s plugged into the wall. When you connect
the battery, the LED goes out. It will turn red again when the battery is
charged. The manual is talking about a charger that they used to include.
It takes about an hour to charge.
What’s is the best quad that I could get for under 120$?
Ouch the original price is $130.00. I am saving for this on amazon and it
is $65.99!
Nice review. I bought this from Amazon for $63 and having a blast with it.
It takes the crashes and keeps on going. If you are looking for
Phantom-like features, then shell out your $1200 and get a Phantom. This is
a toy ‘copter and is something to play around with and learn on that has
some excellent features for the $.
+John Vrabec Yeah man this thing is really fun, just got one yesterday! got
mine on amazon for 52$
whats the quality of the video? is hd?
Can this run Battle Field in 4k?
Is there like an app that allows you to see things from the drone’s camera?
