Using drones to save on pesticide costs and loss04:43

Marcus Bulstrode, from the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, talks about trialling drone-based technologies to manage weeds in sugarcane farming systems. The trial combines drone mapping technology with spot spraying of weeds. The spray drone can precisely target weeds thereby reducing pesticide use and limiting the potential for herbicide run off. The trial is funded by the Queensland Government’s Reef Water Quality Program and the Australian Government’s Reef Trust program and supported by Innisfail Canegrowers.
