arent the HDO’s using Sony panels? pretty sure they said it on the 2 or 3 podcasts they were on
You are comparing cell phones and tv’s that are left on for a much longer period of time to some thing that is on for 5 minutes at a time, this is bad information.
This is the first time I have ever disliked a video, good job Drone Mesh
The new Sony hdr panels don’t have burn in. It’s not old but the picture is amazing
you have to use the same OSD every day for hours than few years later maybe you burn the pixels
TBH, OLED burn-in is a non-issue. It only happens at very high brightness settings, and even then – if the OSD is burned in, well, it’s in the location of the OSD. And burn-in happens within hours if the brightness is too high – I had a Samsung phone which I used as a sat Nav once for about two days in the car. The status bar was burnt in forever, because of course, the phone was plugged in & running at max brightness in the car for hours on end.
Additionally, burn-in on OLED is accumulative, whereas LCD burn in is not. Which is why flipping the OSD around will not help you – it’s simply a matter of single LEDs going more dim over time. Even if you flip your OSD from time to time, you’re going to have it burn in (because it will spend a lot of time in the same spots).
Honestly, don’t worry about it.
Yeah I asked JB the same thing about oled burnin I think it will be issue for racers more the free style. Lol I heard they have a row of broken pixels that needs a firmware patch that also meds up dvr. If it was any other company it would be talked about.
I’m disappointed by the lack of research and due diligence put in before this video. It’s been stated by Fatshark that the displays are manufactured by Sony and that if there is ever any burn-in they will replace the displays under warranty. You also mentioned that you don’t know the price of the HDOs. Why not look it up before recording? It’ll really help your channel to put in a little research beforehand.
best thing you could do is play a video through the hdmi input every now and then to wipe out the retention. Even switch channels at the end of your day as to display static for a while. This is how you used to help get ride of screen burn from plasmas. The most important thing is regular “maitenance” to keeps your screens free of retention. Letting it build up is what creates permenant damage.
I have noticed a weird ‘ghosting’ effect on my HD2’s relating to the OSD, like if the statistics show on screen at the end of a flight for a while then I re-arm, the ‘ghost’ of the stats stay for a few moments and slowly fade out.
This was most notable when I was testing interlaced footage fed into the goggles, a true 720×576 image which had alternating red & blue lines which swapped over halfway down the screen, the goggles did not like it.
Hey!The guy as an example played a MMORPG because the character avatar is burnt on the screen as well. Thanks for the video.
It won’t happen. Let’s be honest even if it does FatShark will take care of you. – Ironically I’m a Aomway user, however I’d love me a set of HD0 which have integrated FAN, adjustable warning/cutoff voltage and a power switch. (C’mon Fatshark HD0v2)
drone mesh hiya buddy can you tell me where I can find or purchase fatshark hd 2 screen’s
You are a addressing a problem that doesn’t exist!!
My OLED Samsung galaxy 7″ tablet is over 8 years old and has no burn problems so I am not worried at all if I get a pair of these goggles. Storm in a teacup more FUD
These were out of my budget anyway, lol. Just starting out I wanted good functional equipment, so over the coarse of many months I’ve saved and ordered the Dominator V3 bundle with battery and receiver on sale. I also picked up the Taranis Q X7 transmitter w/ rechargeable battery. Now I just have to finish putting the drone together. It’s a very similar build to your Racestar F4S AIO build. I watched your build videos for some time before investing in a soldering iron, heat gun, and other tools. Not to mention goggles, transmitter, all the parts necessary to complete the drone build. All I have left (besides the capacitors Bang…. stiffed me on) is a 4S battery & charger. I do really appreciate the time you take to help others, it’s helped me immensely.
I just bought a new set of fatsharks that why I didn’t buy the HDO.
Don’t forget the initial releases are suffering from flickering pixels along the bottom. Fatshark released an update but the update bricked the dvr.
Now you must send your new HDO to fatshark to have this fixed.
Maybe betaflight devs can add OSD profiles that could be set to a switch like pid profiles
