this is only improved by my watching on 1.5x because i didn’t have a lot of time. just…amazing 🙂
as an actual drone racer I found this video both hilarious and infuriating
Thanks for checking out Liftoff!
I have watched vids of people racing these drones and it just look like the hardest thing I have ever seen
Really enjoying these videos the last few days. Used to watch Twitch VoDs until some stuff happened to me around the time Max Payne 2 was being played and didn’t get back. I’ve been missing some good Kurt streams it looks like
Golf isn’t just played by rich old white men
Yeah. With an actual radio transmitter, the throttle axis doesn’t have a spring. Also, the video quality is shit because it is low-latency. Those high-definition feeds you get from the DJI quads have lag. Low quality analog transmission has a lot less lag, so you can fly better. It isn’t a lower quality video transmitter, it is just meant to do a different thing.
This looks crazy real at times…
@kurtjmac Flitetest bought an old Golfcourse, so well yeah they are building it to fly there… but keep in mind, drones are no toys
This game is an absolute pain in the ass with a regular game controller. You definitely need an actual RC transmitter.
The camera is supposed to be tilted up. It’s called camera uptilt. The higher it’s tilted the faster you travel due to the more you pitch the drone forward to be able to see the horizon. You can use the up and down arrows to change camera uptilt. You can also hit “esc” and go to “flight controller settings” and change your throttle mid point to 50% then change throttle expo to 40%. Then at the top in the “PID” section lower your RC rate on all 3 lines down so that the last columns number drops to about 650°. Then add expo up to about 30%. All this will soften up your sticks so that they are not so sensitive. And do this on the fastest drone you have access to. Thus desensitizing the sticks but at full stick deflection you’ll have all the power and speed you want.
YouTube @Joshua Bardwell he has some great tutorials on this simulator and his house and property is in this game also.
Take your time and don’t over react when correcting. Tending up and over reacting creates what’s called pilot induced osculation. So relax and make subtle stick movements and start with the basics. Just hover in place in “ACRO” mode. Don’t get used to level or horizon, cuz if you do it’ll be harder to learn acro. That’s the biggest mistake new pilots make. That or buying a DJI drone that can fly autonomously.
Oh and download ummagawds remix drone. The smaller drones are worse cuz they don’t have power to escape disasters.
And once you’ve learned “ACRO” mode you’ll realize it does fly like a fixed wing plane. Especially with higher camera uptilt. Pulling down on the right stick will cause it to tilt back so that the drone climbs. And the left stick up and down seems like it causes the drone to climb and fall but in acro it’s throttle. Keep in mind that to move around you have to shift your thrust vector to the opposite direction to intend on traveling. So when you want to turn you need to combine “yaw” (left stick left or right) with “roll” (right stick left or right). Push both sticks together the same direction. Hence turning the drone right and roll the drone right. And when you are pitched forward remember your axis tilts with the drone. So pitched forward if you yaw right it doesn’t go right it twist on the axis right but you continue to travel forward. That’s why you have to roll right at the same time so the thrust vector shifts from pushes behind you to pushing to your left and in front of you. Propelling your drone to the right. And when you pitch forward in acro do it slightly and let your stick center. The drone will remain pitched forward and moving forward. Then just fly it like a plane. Roll and yaw together and pitch back to climb pitch forward to go down. Throttle to accelerate and coincidentally the throttle will cause what ever right stick movement you do to react faster.
I fly freestyle and practice alot on this. Look up Le Drib also. Or rotor riot……
