Burnout in First Person View Drone flying is a real thing. When your goals don’t align with the stressors you receive from flying it can lead one to a state of exhaustion or worse. Suddenly, a thing that is supposed to bring joy is a source of angst and anger.
so true.. i felt like my flying has gotten worse, or ive reached a plateau, i was on fire this past summer and now i feel too cautious and like im not flying as locked.
This hobby can be stressful and addictive. When your favorite quad isn’t flying right it can drive you mad! Check your motor screws first, i can’t tell you how many times i had loose motor screws and couldn’t figure out why my quad was flying like shit.
Can very much relate. As a 43yo I simply cannot keep up with the younger guys speed. So I’ve taken my foot off the gas, and I actually fly better for it, because in the end I’m having fun instead of trying to be the best.
Great video bro!!! That happened to me when I was doing tons and tons of review videos. It got to be so much and such a burden it wasn’t fun. It was all about the views and reviews and making numbers for companies. Now I fly for me. If my video doesn’t do great I don’t care. I just like having fun and sharing the hobby.
Wow, because I’m slowly beginning to feel the burnout. Maybe it’s just the winter blues but I’m really getting tired of spending to much time and money on this hobby and not getting the satisfaction I’m looking for. Maybe I’ll buy a boat instead
I see that neato frame in the back ground u have framed. I have one of each of there frames. Amazing quads. Is that what u have
Very well said/explained??. I love your videos Mike keep up the great work you are doing!
Good stuff buddy!! I’ve had burnout in work, and hobby multiple times. For me, my main hobby used to be writing software (video games), which is also my job (not games, but software). So you can imagine the frustration of getting burned out at work and that impacting my hobby. It was a miserable time for sure. It was the point when I found RC again, and in particular FPV.
I take time off couple days here and there but I’ve boxed rode BMX so I know how to deal with it sucks sometime but I’m so passionate about flying I can’t see myself getting burned out cause it’s a video game to me at this point
Thank you, I flew to often in the last days and found myself losing creaticity, fun in flying as well as having fun in doing other stuff like friends…
Balance is very important, also balance of things you like and don’t like.
I really enjoyed this one man. We’ve all certainly been been there. You hit the nail on the head at 2:17. No one is burned out when they’re progressing. It’s always when they’re feeling stagnated. I’m so glad you’ve re-prioritized what you want to do and are doing it (very well I might add). I take something away from every one of your videos. Thanks for that!
Oddly enough, I burned out on FPV before I actually even did that much flying. Before I built my first 5″ and was only flying micros a few years ago, I started flying simulators every night, unhappy with myself until I was the fastest pilot in every server. Every time someone faster came along I felt frustrated because I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to get to that level knowing I was practicing as much as I could. I actually forgot the whole reason I got into FPV though. It wasn’t to be the best racer, it was to get my ass outside and enjoying life. Now that I stopped taking FPV seriously and just fly when I want to, I think it’s a hobby I could carry on doing indefinitely. I really enjoy the FPV community, and helping people get into the hobby.
. Very nice n I mean it. Soo true about buying parts n using money for the family.
Keep the goals small and enjoy the trip. Let the destination present itself. If it doesn’t, you’re out having fun and (hopefully) decompressing. That alone is a very good thing.
Good video.
Holy hell dogs….man this is so real. Your damn good at this. Thank God for your channel and this added breath of fresh air in this hobby.
Every FPV pilot needs to see this video. Thanks man
