Dronrs! I touched on this story in the last Dronr News but I wanted to get more into the nitty gritty on the details and why it’s so important that we all are educated on drone laws & safety. Sadly, most authorities are not super well trained when it comes to drone regulation, so we need to do better as a community, before something awful happens.
Here is a link to my video about the LAANC system that I mentioned: https://youtu.be/PhMas5IlXdY

Can you imagine the shitstorm if he’d actually hit one of the planes or God forbid cause one of the planes to crash? This isn’t some half-drunk Piper Cub flying out of a backwoods Airport. These are the best pilots in the world flying over a major u.s. city in front of a huge crowd in some of the most iconic and famous planes out there.
we need to police ourselves in our community .
Typical of the government. They create a set of laws (wrapped up with Part 107) that address an issue, but they lack the teeth to enforce those laws. So what do they do? They create another set of laws (RID) that they can’t enforce. But in this case, they wrote RID in such a way that it makes it potentially unsafe to fly a drone. Who wants to pay a monthly fee to a third party to store (and sell?!) our info to anyone they want, while broadcasting our location live to anyone that wants to download an app?
Actually, the RID wasn’t written to help with the inability to enforce 107 laws, it’s so companies like Amazon can force us out of the airspace they are ‘purchasing’ from the FAA.
sorry for the rant. I’ll go get my tinfoil hat now.
With remote Id we need to be careful with what we do if remote Id goes into effect right now the FPV(first person view) community will be gone. As most of our drones are home build and that would be completely taken away
Great video B! I totally agree with you that we need some sort of ID system. But, the one the FAA is currently proposing is not the way it should be done. A transponder of some sort that law enforcement or the FAA can see, that can be retro fitted to earlier model drones would be perfect. I don’t have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is DJIs version that every “Joe bag of doughnuts” can see where I am in real time, then he can come and confront me because he thinks I’m “spying” on him. Or even a criminal shows up and assaults me and takes all my gear! There has to be a better way to do it. Sorry, Had to vent.
Thanks for doing what you do B, I really appreciate it. Take care,
That drone was yards away not feet away
Thank you, B! You nailed, its up to us as drone pilots to obey the regulations and rules set forth by the FAA. I’m hearing the FAA only has five representatives overseeing all the reports coming in to them. Thanks again for bring the important information tonight. Take Care!
Loved the video bro. One bad egg can spoil it for us all
I totally disagree. Government regulation rarely fixes anything. The FAA is not enforcing because they are giving enough rope for people to hangout themselves. They are waiting for a drone to accidentally take down a passenger jet. When that happens they will nearly instantly get funding to enforce laws and provide training. Until that happens we are in a waiting game.
An ID system only hurts those who are legally flying. The same idiots causing these problems will not get ID systems or register. Your logic is flawed.
Hopefully Remote ID eliminates the need for further regulation. It will really suck for FPV, though. Sometimes it feels like drones have become more regulated than guns, which is baffling. Luckily, my local law enforcement appreciates drones, rather than fears them.
B! Both of my thumbs are up. I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. Thank you for keeping a level understanding available to anyone who wants to really know what our true use is of our drones. Subscriber for a couple of years now.

I remember after that helicopter got scratched by a drone a few years back one reporter referred to drones as “these flying menaces.” We do have to point out the idiots.
This proves what I’ve said all along
“Drone Police” only exist in YouTube comments
Well Said, my friend. Unfortionally there are a few Drone YouTubers that are breaking the regulations in their own videos and don’t even mention the regulations that are saving lives! Good job as always!
Thanks for sharing and while we could argue about just how high the UAV was, at 1:15 in Droner Tech footage shows it far above the downtown 400+ foot sky scrappers!
And if anyone wants to quibble about just how close the UAV came, this video clip will definitely tighten your sphincter muscle!

Was there a TFR when the Blue Angeles flew?
Great information.
