If you’re looking to bling-out your FPV racing mini-quadcopter or RC plane then LEDs are the way to do it.
Banggood.com offered to send me free stuff but I thought I’d spend my own money and buy these so as to check out, not only the product, but the service as well.
As you can see… the LEDs are okay and the service was pretty good, taking just over a week from the time I ordered until they arrived in the mail by registered post.
I now have another order on its way from Banggood.com (which I once again paid for as a regular customer) with more goodies for review.
This product can be found at:
I bought six of them so the price was US$1.66 each
I don’t know but when I checked the price on Banggood it says 3.99 in us
dollars. I be-leave that is for one strip. At least on the bottom it says
1x led strip. That seems high even with free shipping! Just my 2 cents.
+amtpdb1 Check that the price was in US dollars — it defaults to Canadian
dollars for me — for some reason.
Bruce: Thanks for getting back. I may be incorrect but I checked and I
think it is set for us dollars. You can check if you like, just set it for
us dollars. If you find I am wrong just let me know.
Thanks again. (do some more videos on electronics,(which bec from HK was it
that you split))
$3,99 US if you buy from UK warehouse, but only $1,90 US if you buy from CN
warehouse.
+Kenneth LNOR
I was only offered US or UK and both said 3.99. Doesn’t matter!
The only thing I’ve bought from banggood was a flybarless helicopter
controller, first one got stuck in shenzhen, they sent another out for
free, then came in a few days. Anyone who orders from China and expects it
quick doesn’t know the postal service!
Bruce… if you disguise yourself as Santa… the FAA will be ‘looking’ for
ya in the states… and may ban all Santa flights…. we wouldn’t want that
to happen would we…you may need your sense and avoid a bit
earlier…maybe Rudolphs new stealth IR nose might be of use..!
Thanks 4 the video.
I placed an order with bang good a year ago after watching a review by a
you tuber. I wouldn’t order from them again. Bit of advice. When. You have
a problem and they start ignoring your email, open a PayPal dispute right
away. And hey presto, bang good will refund you directly and ask for the
dispute to be closed.
Bruce watch what you review, they will take your reviews and use them on
their website.
Note, they will first of all ask if it’s possible to have whatever you’ve
bought repaired locally, and they will refund you, then they will offer you
banggood points. After those two options they will ignore your emails.
You look good Santa! Merry Christmas to you sir!
I have been buying from BANGGOOD, for almost 2 years now, and I can say
only good things about them, I bought 3 helis, repair kits for them, lots
of arduino stuff, over 40 orders, and everything came in time, very quick
shipping I live in europe (croatia), and most of packages came within 2
weeks, they didnt lost a single package, everything came working, nothing
came broken or something, BANGGOOD is really great, I would suggest them to
everyone
I have never had a complaint with banggood and that’s with 20+ orders. They
are even stocking lipo’s and other rc hobby related parts. If they sold the
same things as HK I would never place an order with HK ever again
Well.. I only wanted 6 the same 30A slim opto spider esc’s. Now I have
finally have them! And 1 20A, and 3 30A opto normal.. O and BTW one 30A
slim seems to have only 2 phases.. The first email they reply, but that’s
all.. Banggood is cheap! And they ship pretty fast and free! But the
service SUCKS! Hobbyking on the other hand(70+ orders) has great service in
my opinion! But the shipping sometimes.. Duh.. Moral of the story, nothing
is perfect. (Except your wife of course!)
I like Bang Good – got 2 flybarless helis cheaper than Hobby King and now I
always check them first before going to the old standard.
I’ve made my own from a spool of RGB LEDs. Then I just wire to the
appropriate terminal(s) for the color I want to produce; red, green, blue
and all three for white. So for less that $10 you can make about 100 5cm
strips into any of 7 different colors.
Just saw the ad for the Turnigy i10 radio…looks like an attempt to
compete with the Taranis…will you be doing a review, Bruce?
Funny how now u want to stress the fact that u finally spent a few bucks on
something. Someone give this guy a treat.
Thanks for the review Bruce, excellent as always. Can i suggest an idea for
review. I fly the JR-XG8 and have had no luck finding a mini quad… or any
multirotor for that matter until just recently ive noticed there two new
kinds of compatible multirotor’s on the market. One uses the trainer output
into a 2.4MHZ module, and the other uses a DMSS receiver chip and i have no
idea which way to go. A comparison of DMSS compatible multirotor’s would be
GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks again for your efforts to educate in the
hobby without ever neglecting the fun that can be had, and i always look
forward to your uploads.
Bruce, perhaps you could use a smart phone light meter app to get some
numbers.
When i first started ordering from banggood, it was incredibly slow. When i
tracked the orders it seems to start somewhere in the middle of china, and
goes by truck to either hongkong or somewhere further east. A bit later i
found out about aliexpress and started ordering from them instead.
Recently tho, i ordered a couple of things from banggood, just minor parts
and tools, and used free shipping. Imagine my surprise when both times,
they arrived faster than EMS from hobbyking (And this close to Christmas!).
They must have done something recently to improve their system. I may end
up ordering from them again.
Considering the banggood lights have a semi white covering on them I think
they are doing great
I like banggood so far. I have ordered porobably 30+ things and most come
quickly. I noticed when I order 5030 props they only take like 10 days to
us but other biger items take longer. Some items are tracked and others are
not. I am currently waiting on a 4″ screen i got on sale for $12 and it has
been almost a month along with one esc. One part I ordered at the same time
has arrived, an rp sma adapter. As long as you are not in a hurry I think
you are ok with them.
I received 1/4 orders from banggood(Europe). One which I received had
tracking number other three doesn’t have. I’m dissapointed now it’s almost
1 and half from shipping date and still nothing. Never had similar problems
with other as dealextereme, aliexpress, hobyking and other china stores:/
I run these on 4s
Bruce check out edo LED lighting on eBay. I buy all my strips from them.
You can get 5 metres of very bright LED strips for less than $20 AUD
Hi bruce, not sure if it was an optical illusion or not but when you
initially upped the voltage on the first white test the solder pad on the
positive connection appeared to revert to its molten state. Its not a lot
of current i grant you but i just wondered if you have checked the pads
while the LED’s are illuminated. have you had any issues will desoldering?
Fancy a few of these for my own.
ignore me bruce, just being a silly pom, on closer inspection it was your
reflection in the joint giving it the molten effect, kudos on your
soldering 🙂
banggood are too variable on shipping and item quality
When you put it on the plane what do you use as a power source
I thought it did pretty good considering it’s size.
Merry Christmas from here in Michigan, U S of A. Keep up the good work. I
have enjoyed your videos and maybe learned a thing or two.
I see you bashing Chinese products in one video, and see you order stuff
from Banggood in this one.
Where do you think these come frome Bruce?
Hmmm Bruce, regarding the EMS tracking number… I myself have placed over
10+ orders from Banggood over the past few months. I’ve used the EMS option
thrice and I’ve got the same problem as you 3 out of 3 times. But my
package still arrives at my doorstep in Singapore exactly 7 days(3 out of 3
times) after being marked as shipped, and the EMS packages for me are
handled by toll express
i bought a nano quad from banggood. Its was a cheerson cx10. Brilliant
little thing but it took 7 weeks to arrive in UK. I actually forgot i
bought the thing but when it arrived it was a nice surprise! broken all the
props now so looking for some replacements that won’t take 7 weeks if
anyone knows?
Or you can just get a whole roll of 5m long led strips for 5$, and for
brighter ones you can get 10$ including shipping on ebay, you can also cut
them on every 3 led. and i am pretty sure you didnt get those with shipping
for under 10 cents… you got ripped off
Banggood is pretty sweet I’ve had good luck ordering keycaps for my
mechanical keyboard from them, typical Chinese supplier caveats though,
sometimes my orders take up to a month to arrive, but heh I’m in no hurry
for toys.
I’ve been waiting over two months for my order from Banggood. Will never
shop there again
Does anybody know which LED types these are and if they can be unsoldered
and replaced with white LEDs of equal brightness. Alternatively a white LED
strip of equal brightness and equal width will do.
Sorry for saying, but the hobby king white ones totally suck, they even get
pale when compared side by side with the banggood ones…. O.o
How much it takes to arrive USA
