This is a review of the Syma X5HW RC Quadcopter Drone (Beginner’s guide).

This is my very first drone and I’m really happy with it. I’m a beginner and I found it really easy to control and fly. Using the Syma app you can connect to the drone and see live footage on your phone, which can be mounted on the controlled using the clamp provided. The video resolution is 640 x 480. Using this app, you can also record videos and take photos.

The built in altitude hold makes it novice friendly. Instead of using the controller stick (left) to maintain the propeller speed to hold the drone in mid air, all you need to is to push or pull the stick to raise or drop the drone to your desired height, when you let the stick go and return back to neutral position, it automatically adjust the propeller speed to maintain its altitude.

There are spare bumpers and propeller blades included. The instruction manual is well written. It takes me around 1.5 hours to charge the battery from empty and I get around 8 mins of flight time from it.

All in all, this is a great starter drone with some really neat features. I can’t wait to go out and fly it again.
