Have you tested the range yet? Would be interesting to know if it can beat
the cx-20.
SeBy DocKy
+Rautis09 I don’t have the CX-20 … so I can’t be fair; In any case, you
can install easily a VTX for both if you plan to practice FPV
Rautis09
Should I get this one or the cheerson cx-20? Which is better? I would also
like to hook it up with fatshark goggles.
SeBy DocKy
I will do a range test soon …. but the connexion seems very solid….
Petar Meznarek (Pero)
Please, put some more videos of this quadcopter. It is very interesting.

Did you see the new x6, it’s smaller and way cheaper AND also has GPS! Is
this one FPV from factory? Can you see the FPV image on the controller RTF
version? Because if not, if it’s just a matter of Lign of Sight flight with
GPS, the X6 seems to be 100 usd cheaper better choice.
SeBy DocKy
+SeBy DocKy and if you buy the X8 TX as spare, you can probably display
telemetry informations. Have to be confirmed with the final version of the
X6

+Randall Huston
Randall Huston
+SeBy DocKy do you have a link to the X6?
SeBy DocKy
+Pavel Alves So probably prefer the X6… Well we have to wait full review
to be sure it’s a nice quad by the way
Pavel Alves
Yeah, I really don’t care about FPV or HD filming right now, I want a quad
to fly Line of Sight, make some manuvers, have some fun, but have it come
home by itself in case I lose sight of it, or it loses connection to the
controller.
Randall Huston
Will a larger battery fit in the X8?
Randall Huston
+SeBy DocKy I don’t think it will be too difficult to optimize the
performance. I’ve read some of the posts in that thread and although I
can’t reply (I was banned by Jim T. Graham) I have seen some of the
concerns. I’m not worried about the motor swapping issue. I’ve got those
same motors on my F450 and they are all threaded the same direction and I
haven’t lost a prop. I’m going to try the 9 inch props from the Walkera QR
X350 Pro. I use them on my Blade 350 and they give longer flight times. I’m
also going to try to fit 2800 mah Zippy’s in my X8 for longer flight times.
I had thought about using this for aerial photography but I believe it’s
more suited for FPV with the safeguards for the battery. The idea of it
landing itself if the battery gets low is a big positive. I’ll post some
videos once mine arrives. Thanks for the review.
SeBy DocKy
You have already tons of experience with quads. Yes telemetry is a really
nice feature for this model. But remember it’s not also a perfect model. I
advice you to read posts of the associated thread in RCgroups. Anyway, I
like my X8
Randall Huston
+SeBy DocKy It looks pretty good. I like the styling and it does seem to
fly well. I’ve been flying quads for several years now. At present I have a
DJI F450 with Naza Lite M, a 700mm quad with the same controller and
a “Dead Cat” for FPV along with a Blade 350QX which is the original
version. I had a Walkera QR X350 but wasn’t impressed with it. I went ahead
and purchased an X8 off a vendor here in the US on Ebay. I’m looking
forward to trying it out. I’m looking for something to replace my Blade 350
and this just might be the one to have. I really like all the information
on the transmitter. I won’t be FPV’ing it but I do plan to use it for video
and photography because of the telemetry. Telemetry isn’t much use if
you’ve got goggles on. Thanks for your videos. They helped me make up
my mind.
SeBy DocKy
+Randall Huston To make short… I like it…. :). It’s not a perfect model
and you have some précautions to take before first take off. I own some
250mm models for treeriding in FPV but this one more for long range FPV and
video filming
Randall Huston
+SeBy DocKy Thanks for replying. What are your thoughts on this quadcopter
after having flown it a while? Do you have any other RTF quadcopters that
you have flown to compare it with?

Is it possible to swap the insides and put into a fpv frame insead?
SeBy DocKy
I think yes …. from a 250mm frame but mabe motors can’t be fixed ( 16mm x
19mm). With a 350mm, I think no problem at all. But I don’t understand why
this FC instead of a naze32 for example.

Nice vid, mate. Is this the same one? How long did it take you to get it?
Looks like the cheapest price I can find.
SeBy DocKy
No it’s not same, the X6 is much smaller (I am reviewing it actually).
Actually, shipping from chine is 3 weeks….

Please there are propeller protection?
SeBy DocKy
No unfortunatly but I guess install some very easily
Just for Fun
What is the payload capacity? Can it carry a gopro?
Just for Fun
Thank you!

Around 200g with the default 8′ inch pros, 250 with some 9″. I am advising
the Walkera G-2D plastic gimbal. Very light gimbal kit

Will any Gimbal work?

Hi again I was wondering if I can use the new dji phantom2 props ,I ordered
the walkera pro props , I noticed the back part of the quad is not even the
left rear prop is closer to body than right .want to upgrade props ,also do
you know any other upgrades I can do to better my lovely quad. I put a shih
kebab stick between the landing gear so to make them more stable I noticed
it was seemed a lot more sturdy after the sticks hope it may help you or
other thank you
SeBy DocKy
Can’t tell you about the DJI phantom2 props compatibility with the FY-X8, I
never tried them… Nice idea to mod the landing gear 🙂 You can post some
photos in the associated RCgroups thread if you want.

Will try put up picture but ill explain the landing gear looks like upside
down V so i put stick make it upside down A. Very easy

Hi ,I was wondering what is a good cheap 3d axis gimbal for the 3d x8? And
also I can’t seem to get the headless function to work please help.thank

HighSight
Hi,
I just don’t know what to do… I’ve had this quad for a few days now and
in ALL of the test flights it just drifts… Not to a certain side but to a
random side, sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left etc. It is not
caused by wind input as it has been completelg windstill the past few days.
I’ve tried trimming, subtrimming, throttle calibration and I wanted to do a
compass calibration but it just won’t show the green flashing light
anymore… (It was working before so I have no clue
HighSight
what happend) 🙁 It’s also not caused by a bad motor as it drifts to a
random side. It seems to drift the most in altitude mode. Because it also
drifts in GPS mode, it makes it a useless function. And this drifting makes
the quad dangerous as I have to give full stick input to prevent it from
drifting…
So please if you’ve got any idea how to solve this drifting issue please
share it! :)
