This new version of the popular H501 GPS camera quadcopter is up to $100 cheaper than the H501S version. Yet it still has the same airframe, brushless motors, 1080p camera, GPS position hold, telemetry, and return to home and landing capability. Buy it here
Pros
– Powerful brushless motor quadcopter at a reasonable price. Price reduction achieved by elimination of FPV and follow me capabilities of the H501S.
– GPS position hold flying.
– Return to home and automatic landing capability at takeoff point. Returns to home automatically on loss of signal from the transmitter, or if manually initiated by the return to home button.
– Transmitter is not a battery eater like that of the H501S. You’ll get many flights out of a set of batteries with this transmitter (I’m still going strong with more than a dozen flights).
– Great transmitter. I’ve flown it out to 300 meters before losing sight of the quadcopter forced me to turn back. But I still had control of the quadcopter throughout that flight.
– Transmitter includes telemetry information of quadcopter’s directional heading, distance, height, satellites received, and quadcopter remaining battery power.
– Very portable. Just the right save to take on a trip or on an airplane.
– Relatively quiet and non-intrusive in flight. Should be able to fly this in many places without being hassled.
– 1080p full HD camera.
Cons
– Does not have the FPV or follow me capability of the H501S. These capabilities were removed in the H501C to greatly reduce the cost of this quadcopter.
– Still weighs more than 250 grams, and will require FAA registration.

Can you use the H501s transmitter with the H501c? Or can you use the H501c
transmitter with the H501s? Does the H502e transmitter work with either the
H501s or the H501c?
I have flown it 194 meters high and over 214 meters distance on my 9th
flight. At that distance you need a binocular as this is a small quad. I
found it was taking time to response on my left and right. RTH pressed and
came back home. Pictures were not that good from above 70 meters. But it
was a great experience with the $200 machine.
received my h501c and everything functions great however my charger is
starting to act up. is there an inexpensive charger i can buy that won’t
break the bank? or should i just buy another hubsan stock charger? thanks.
Is this a good beginners quadcopter?
so is this basically the same as h5021 e but with better range and
brushless motors
can i use my 501s transmitter on my 501c quod
Hi, I bought this for my son based on your review, thanks! He loves it, I’m
looking for an FPV racer with goggles, what one would you recommend? (P2
flier at the mo) keep up the great work! (Subbed)
thanks 4 sharing. . just ordered 1 h501c this morning. I should have it in
15 days or less. :)
hello again quadcopter 101. i hate to be a pita but i have one last
question about the h501c. i know pressing the right stick down in mode 2
makes the quad go into expert mode but what does pressing the left stick
down do? a little symbol pops up on the transmitter but i’m not sure what
it does. i would rather ask you than crash my quad because i don’t
understand something. thanks in advance. :)
Quadcopter 101 can you please tell me what is the range you get with the
H501C mine is about 100 metres and stop there like an invisible wall
blocking.Thank you
Hi 101, I truly hope that the instruction manual for the H501C has a
superior ‘English translation’ than my JJRC H26 and Tarantula X6 have.
Referring to either of those is painful to say the least. I ordered the
H501C yesterday and waited with baited breath for it’s arrival. I love
watching your videos, and I am thankful there are those out there with
simple, effective narrative which explain exactly what is required. Good on
you. Keep up the good work.
How much better is this over the 502 series?
Was not expecting that much when I spend only $200 on this. Over 35 flights
and some in really windy conditions. Still going good. One thing they could
improve is introducing 3 axis gimbal to compete with DJI. I wouldn’t mind
paying a little more if I see this in near future.
the image quality is amazing. and the quad itself looks so nice. nice
video. thanks once again. keep good work!
some way to reduce the jello effect?
Hi 101. Do you know if the camera lens is adjusted ?i have not taken it
apart .the lens is in Focus at 10-15 feet then as it gets higher everything
very unsharp .i have one that’s very sharp and one that’s not .before I
dive in I thought I would ask. The videos on yours seams very good
This is a lot of funn with the tx 02 fpv 200 ma camera
you can to give me “fcc” number of this remote?
I had 1 delivered worked great for 2 days, now the quadcopter won’t
arm…..any suggestions?
I couldn’t find your last reply
but also when I’m done with the second calibration, the lights go off for a
second then come back on blinking, it won’t compass lock. is that a problem
with the transmitter or the quadcopter? tia
thanx for all your help 101,
it all worked out great with your help but still can’t get the quadcopter
to arm after doing everything you said. so I ordered a new transmitter
hoping that will solve the problem. ….
is this thing can carry a go pro camera?
Initial set up h501c….i can not get the controller to bind? i went
through the calibration of both x4 and controller? for some reason the
controller is not showing any satellites connecting? shows no battery on
x4? it says OH then the O and cycles back and fourth? I did turn on
controller before x4 rrrrrrr any help is appreciated, thanks jimmy
You recommend it?
Buy it?
Hi, In failsafe mode, (let’s say the transmitter loses power, shuts off or
losses transmission with the 501c), do the motors shut off after it returns
to home? or do they continue to spin after it lands?
Is it possible to adjust the camera lens ?its out of focus after 10 feet
.my other h501c has a very sharp camera like yours look on the videos
WHY did you leave out your water landing?! That would have been a great
learning experience to share!!
