This will show you how to modify your stock controller with an old router antenna to extend the range up to about 500 feet! Some wire stripping and soldering skills are required but there is no cost if you have the tools and an old broken router laying around. You can confidently fly much farther with this mod without worrying if the quad is going to lose signal and be taken away by the breeze to destination unknown 🙂

This mod will make your quadcopter be in control as far as you can see it.
I am waiting the micro fpv in your h8c. really fun the antenna to extend
the range!!
Hello, you can provide some video that teaches you step by step?
Great video and thanks for sharing. How much dbi is the antennae. How is it
flyng?
Thank you again for the feedback,I ordered the dl toys controller and will
try the mod with that one instead of the stock.I ordered the dl toys
controller with the short antennae and ordered a 5 dbi wifi router antennae
from eBay.Btw does the wire being hooked to the controller has to be a
specific length if so do you know it.I also here this is a major complaint
with the blown motors, hope someone comes out with a resolution for this
also,lol.
Thanks for the mod video. I’m sure I’ll be doing this soon.
Grab one of these did i range test and almost flew my h8c out of eye sight
and was still controllable!
Very nice cheap upgrade.
First off it aint a drone, and 2nd, i used a v262 controller and got 518
feet, nice mod tho, as the stock controller is rubbish!
hi i need help i dont know which one to choose JJRC H8C OR SYMA
X5C-1 ??? im ready to order any advice?? THANKS
Hi Dustin: A quick and dirty way to improve range and control is to drill
a hole in the upper right side of the lower shell….. and extend the coax
and coupler/antenna outside the controller. There is a video of this mod on
TouTube and it really improved my control and increased the range. This
little can get lost in a hurry at 100% … so be careful with the
controls!!
God bless Dustin. Just got my JJRC H8C but I am going crazy here because
this thing keeps drifting on the ground into one direction. It wants to
crawl and not fly. What can be wrong ?
Hello Mate , Thanks for the great mod , I already drilled a hole in right
upper corner and inserted an externnal antenna, but there is already a
stock 2.4 antenna soldered to the remote pcb trancieber unit , Do I need to
un-solder the stock internal atnenna before soldering the external
one??? , this phase isnt shown in your tutorial…
HI Dustin,
I want to do this mod. This kinda of stuff is new to me and I am new to RC
stuff, so I don’t have any old routers laying around, But I did find some
antennas on ebay. Just want to make sure it is the right thing. Will this
work?
Thanks, Jill

Yep, that antenna will work perfectly. Just be careful with soldering and
you will be amazed!
Hey Dustin , Nice video !!! Can you tell me what exzact router you used on
is video ? I rather get the same router that you used so I know the antenna
fits a it works … Thank you for your time !!! Robbie
hi, do you soldier the antenna wire to both soldier points beside each
other on the circuit board? I cant really see from the pic in the video.
Many thanks!
I thought you’re going to actually show me how to do it instead I see a
slideshow these things are useless
