As promised this is AN altitude test video with the modification that I posted previously. I think is is a great improvement on the stock Arial. I now know my maximum range by sight and what not now to exceed.

sm0kinkila74 This was my first Quad. More of a trainer, learn to fly on a
Syma. I now have a DJI Phantom Vision 2. Great hobby and great fun. Look
forward to seeing how you do. Good luck and happy flying.
oh look, a pond
Great flying. I noticed you can see the horizon. I understand you can’t
normally see it with the stock camera setup. Have you modded the camera
angle?
It appears that the mods worked to extend range. A guy in Germany (I think)
maintained control at 400m, with no mods, and I’m wondering how he did
that. Thanks for the video – you have shown very clearly what not to do.
How high can you fly with the quadro?
How long range/ I mean, how many meters/feets?
Odd how a Body of water Quickly appears when it’s plummeting to the ground
🙂 Awesome Video.
isnt it strange how we can find water when something goes wrong good yours
missed the water
You need a phantom.
for the money looks brilliant
Nice video, I’ve lost two X5s due to my own ignorance and being blown away
by the wind. I still own one however it was also my first quad, it’s
durable and I love to fly it still. When I get the urge and the weather is
bad, these X5s will fly. I now own a Scout X4 and love it.
You were lcuky! I lost mine similar to this circumstance (went up too high,
out of sight and poop)
You got some damn impressive altitude out of such a low cost quad. The
performance of this little thing continues to surprise the hell out of me.
found it. Nice
It dies?
-Oh, look! A pond!
-**splash**
-GOD ******* DAMMIT!!!
thanks 4 sharing. by the way: you can mount onto your syma camera a wide
angle lens for wider view. I love this great and cheap upgrade. have fun
;-)
Seems to have taken the crash alright. I didn’t hear anything break.
You were not very high at all, really. But then, the stock X5C-1 really
only has a range of maybe 90 to 100 feet (in my measured experience), so
your mod added perhaps another 50 feet or so. This I not a good quad copter
for high flight at all, but is better suited for zipping around closer to
the ground. It does quite well in that regard and holds up well in hard
landings.
You were not really all that high up. But then, the X5C-1 only has a true
range of 90 to 100 feet horizontally, a bit more vertically. Your mod added
perhaps another 50 feet or so… These are not high flyers but are better
suited for zipping around closer to ground level. They hold up well in hard
landings too.
does the x5c have a high and low mode? i find that with my x8c if the wind
is drifting it to much I go into high mode, more often than not low mode
isn’t good for high flying except on really calm days.
a daring venture. I have noticed on my x5c, that the range isn’t
consistent???? I have taken it up almost out of sight and then the next
battery, (fully charged of course) would loose signal at approx 125 feet.
It’s a great flyer but a little inconsistent on range. Great views.
I’ve lost control before like that and when it dropped just a little, it
picked up on it’s own. I have noticed that the range on mine can vary from
day to day
I also have the Phantom 1. I have tarantula X6 and other toy grade
copters, but the little X5C is the fun copter for me. I use the X8c
transmitter and also have the antenna mod and I use the wind surfer on the
antenna. I get tremendous height and range. In fact, It gets pretty well
out of sight and I have never lost control of it yet. I ordered two more of
them, just the copter and not transmitter $24 at Gearbest… Great deal…
Yep, I am very familiar with high altitude testing: going up is optionally,
going down is mandatory. Just depends how it will land. :D
If you fly it in the mountains (where I do) you can get it up 300 feet at
times! I did that once and lost control…and it landed in the lake. 🙁 I
made a video about it. Go check it out on my CHANNEL!
