Flying a high altitude with the syma x8 with go pro hero under $250 setup. If i had to guess the max altitude here is 500 feet. Flight was done in full manual mode without headless on. The quad had a really hard time pulling up so given the extra weight of the gopro so landing was ruff on this run.

is that lose the control becuase of high altitude?
Nice job…..i use a SJ4000, with zip ties holding it in place. It’s nice
to see how others have good success with Go Pros, especially in a high
altitude lime you did.
I got same , it’s very hard to learn how to fly , with no gps stability,
specially in the little windy day, whatever good stuff and nice challenging
for beginners…
whats the range for syma x8?
What is the effect on battery life?
will it be able to work with 6channel controllers like FS-T6 FS-i6,
Spektrum DX5e etc?
Hi Hunter Lilley,
In my opinion, well done man!
Cam & Copter OK – Video on Card = Everything is fine ;o) That counts…
Wish you luck for further flights!
Only a Tip from me, if its allowed:
“Dont hover the Drone too long – do more smooth sideways or forward/back
motions, also when you landing.
That eliminates the scary VORTEX RING EFFECTS-especially in calm low-wind
areas.”
On my Channel you can see a new video – similar flight like yours – with my
brandnew silver Syma X-8G.
Recorded last Sunday 17.01.2016 near Sundown at minus -4 degrees Celsius.
Have a good time, everytime!
Thanks for your work.
Cheers from Germany,
Frank
qui est ici grace a bug man fr movies?
The landing wasn’t hard because of the heavy gopro, although the weight
probably added to it. The true issue is you were in vortex ring state
because you were coming down too quickly and the propellers were caught in
their own turbulence. My suggestion would be for you to come down in
circles or moving with the yaw in some way while coming down. And also,
keep in mind if you were really at 500 feet it was an illegal flight,
anything over 400 ft needs faa approval.
500 feet without modification ?
I am very curious if the added weight of the Go Pro has caused your quad
any damage such as the motors burning out or any overheating damage from
the excess payload weight? Someone I asked said the Go Pro will surely
cause the motors to fail because of the excess weight. Is your quad still
running well after using this setup?
Thanks my friend!
Came down a little too fast. Watch out for vortex ring state…apply some
forward pitch to come out of it and decrease your throttle slowly. Nice
video.
hello, i am from Ukraine and sory about mistakes, how cost it’s and how
many mah battery have? :)
wath was the time to fly with the gopro ?
That was a nice flight brother. I am working with my SYMA x8w with carbon
fiber anti vib mount + SJ4000 cam. You guys should check my vid
so how did you mount the gopro?
Hi Hunter, i have a syma X8C with a gopro on a hellmet mount, a bord with
barometer, a antena mod, and the stock camara bilt in the quadcopter, the
ruf landing i alsow have them because the extra wheit, and When it ligths
flash because los battery it comes down fast an i have to give it full
trotol to slow down, but some times it slams the grownd, i have still the
stock motors, and i have flown it 3 times with 4 batterys each time, keep
flying

One question, does adding a GoPro cost more battery life? Because it´s
heavier and probably needs more power to carry the additional weight?
