Tried to mount a GoPro Hero2 to my AR.Drone 2.0 quadcopter.
Compilation of some crashes during the first days.
Had some serious damages. Broken body, sensor cable teared out and so on but I could fix them all by myself.
The quadcopter is still completely functional and flies better than ever 🙂

Einige Bruchlandungen der letzten Tagen bei meinem Versuch, an einem
kleinen AR.Drone Quadcopter eine GoPro Hero2 zu befestigen und das ganze
noch steuerbar zu halten…
Try to mount camera on the top of the battery & set indoor hull mode. Check
out quadrocop com for more info 😉
Also Join the AR.Drone 2.0 Community on Google+. They have helped me out
greatly will my flight issues. Things to check. (1)Make sure the cross
frame is stiff and tight. NO loss areas or cracks. (2) change your
propellers to a fresh new set of stocks…if you get them too bent up it
can throw off its flight ability even by a millimeter .
salut!tu devrais installé des colliers en plastique tu fait une boucle aux
niveaux des pieds et ca protège bien des crash!moi cella m a aidé a pas
cassé lors des crash!
I compiled some crashes & hard touchdowns while experimenting with
different GoPro mounts during the last days. Despite some 10m free falls
the AR.Drone is still up and running (just had to fix some broken foam
parts and a sensor connection which was teared out). A great thing to play
around :)
This is how I made the GoPro mount with longer landing legs to protect the
GoPro cam.
It is placed at the point of gravity and the longer landing legs also makes
the touchdown smoother
Excelente job
try try try! really good!
I did once attached my Gopro on my AR Drone 2.0 just with 3 elastics: I
placed the camera on the angled face beneath the “nose” of the drone. I’ve
squeezed foamy things behind just to make it aim a little bit higher and
using 2 other elastics I locked the battery almost outside of its “socket”
until I could feel the center of mass being back to its normal position. It
flew alright with it but I was too afraid of crashes, I decided that day to
upgrade to a DJI Phantom (still preparing for it)
Three words: buy a Phantom.
🙂
balance your props or get some moongel for the vibrations
mount the camera ON the ar.drone
Poor thing….
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger 🙂 The drone is still up and
running and in good health…
your wallet: -300€ 🙁

+Михаил Михайлов Yes.
Is gopro hero 2 heavier than gopro hero 2014?
There is an 720 hd camera that is inside the ar drone use it instead of a
gopro it will reduce the weight
Yes, but it would reduce video to 720p and the photos taken with the
internal cam are just plain ugly. I updated to the GoPro Hero 3+ and flight
characteristics are much better now.
You need a dji phantom dude :-)
To reduce the jello effect you need to put a polarized filter on the gopro
;-)
Thanks ! You can try that : AR Drone 2.0 Parrot – GoPro Hero3 – Leds
Wondering what you did to get it stable. My ar drone won’t stay straight
ar drone 2.0 does not support a foolish nilox special weight 136gr and
gopro. with battery 1000 manages to get up but the drone goes about his
business not responding to commands, with battery 1500 gets up to then
stall plummeting.

To reduce the jello you can balance your props. A prop balancer can be
bought for $15 and helps reduce vibrations throughout your drone by making
sure all 4 props are balanced.
Should’ve gotten a phantom no?
it works! i am doing the same , flying stable with the frame and the go pro3 under the drone without any drone proteccion to help a bit with the weigth. the only problem is the wind. You need perfects days. But it works and the image quality is much better. Good Work
