Wouldn’t the signal degradation be dependent on where the controller was? It sounded like your answer was talking about bouncing off of the canyon walls and the signal was above say from 90 degrees from the deck but would that same signal be as poor if they were say 45 degrees to the side of the drone where you may still have the signal bounce from the walls but the main signal was coming from a slant side of the drone. I think it may make a bit of difference as you may have a better chance to keep your signal granted you are still coming from above the drone but with the angle adding to the strength it should be possibly stronger since you are say at an angle rather than straight above?? I am not a radio person but as you said it was a stronger position to be on the high ground??
Hey guys. When flying over a cliff face the wind changes drastically, strong up or down drafts are common . Depending on the wind speed, direction and depth of the cliff it can be quite turbulent for manned aircraft. In an ice situation the air is extremely heavy and if coming from behind and falling over the face it carries an enormous amount of weight, sometimes enough to drive choppers into mountain sides at full power.
