I like 7-inch quads. Maybe they are not as agile as “classical” 5 inchers, but they shine in terms of endurance and versatility. Cruising? No problem! Long range? No problem. Freestyle? No problem. Cinematic platform? No problem as well.
My 7-inch Source One got an interesting upgrade: instead of static GoPro Session bracket, I’ve put a gimbal on her. She might have got slightly heavier, but gimbal allows to take amazing shoots not. And it’s detachable! Sure, it looks awkward a little but gets the job done.
The gimbal… the gimbal http://bit.ly/2FESO7u is crazy cheap Chinese clone of AlexMos hardware but works surprisingly well. Much better when it was carried by my 12-inch machine. I would not put a gimbal on 5-inch racing quad, but 7-inch Source One didn’t even notice the extra weight. And that’s something!

Cannot agree more that the DAL 7″ prop being the best option available. I run it on the FT Radial 2212 motor, 6s. I really prefer the motor have complete authority over the propeller, I’d be curious how 2506 feels though.
put this gimball on an FPV plane?
Hmm carbon fibre gimbal? Re-design the control board so it folds into two boards? Lol im wanting to make one for the bugs 3 i think it would work well.?? please do follow on video because this is interesting.??
Pawel, could you please check the link for motors? Not a first time I cant see the sellers page of those ION Raange 1250kv motors.
Hi Pawel. Apologies I am off topic again.
I fly mostly powered gliders with Inav 2,1 and Matek wing flight controllers. I use crow braking by making the flaperons into spoilerons. I am using camber with flaps only and have unsuccessfully experimented with adding the ailerons as flaperons. Is there a way to have both spoilerons and flaperons in Inav please?
Hey where’d you get the session holder, is it your design or is it on thingeverse ?
brilliant idea!
it’s great to watch a video without that mind bending music that most yt put in , i love the sound of the motors and what they are doing ….nice video
Very inspirational video, loving this.
What size battery are you running on that Pawel?
Check this out,
That’s really cool, you are on to something. Of course you will feel it when the wind blows, its like a sail on top. Think smaller and flat.
