Please do not mind but this is not the right way to handle this kind of situation. At least you need enough polygons in your mesh to handle the curve or roundness before adding in any supporting loops. Even you can use crease tool in Maya or 3ds max for a view before finalizing your model. This is how we handle these kinds of surface:
Organic hard surfaces need a little extra planning before boolean or cutting any surface into it.
I don’t know maya, but for the second example I think modeling a base shape with the correct curvatures and using it as a shrinkwrap target might give a cleaner result whether you use triangles or quads. But yeah I don’t know how that gets setup in maya.
wtf is this no brainer tutorial? waste of my time watching this. i cant believe i actually guving them a chance to maybe come up with something clever later in the video.
we’re lucky that youtube has 10 minute mark instead of 30 or we’ll all be wasting huge amount of time instead of learning stuff.
Global Illuminati confirmed… wait what?
Those frantic Keyboard and mouse clicks… My God. Lay off the coffee before you record and maybe reposition the mic.
Otherwise nice video.
Side skirt?
09:57 It becomes a quad, but leaves behind a valence-3 EV.
Learnt this myself a week ago. Was so scared of tris but after subdivving my mesh, the edge was still smooth and I was able to avoid more polys to manage in the other side of the edge. Great tip. Major thumbs up????
There is an easier way to create curved surfaces with cuts on them. The only video I have on my channel covers this. Zremsher and masking based. All quads, and clean.
can you guys make a video on realistic texture for character modeling in Maya or any other software
Yes! More hardsurface stuff, pretty pleas! 🙂
Oh and I wonder if I ever get it, why the hell 3D progs don’t like tris. When everything is made of triangles anyway underneath the hood. I guess you can explain it a 1000 times, it really won’t stick. Like how do 40.000 tons of steal float! 😀 😀 😀
triangles are not evil you guys are evils
