they should make a mixed design of a different form of fixed wing with quadrocopter so it can both fly really far and fast but also stay put in one place

This actually makes a lot more sense than quadcopters for most people.
Quadcopter are great for filming because of its granular control over
position. The problem is that most people don’t have short 15min clips to
film. Professionals can take advantage of quads by spending time to plan
and film events such as protests, but not so much for the average consumer.
The average consumer of these devices most likely just want to fly around
for a good amount of time and explore the surroundings from the sky.

This was cool when I saw it in BlackSheep’s home made version back in 2009 or so. They had FPV goggles instead, and it went a lot farther and into the swiss mountain tops, a must see. A lot better rotating camera also, unlike this fixed fisheye cam!. Pssshh

God I hate this guy, every year he just does an awful job covering the things at ces and other tech related conventions.

Ultrasonic sensors are not new to Parrot’s drones or even to many other drones

He didn’t mention anything about the camera so I suppose that this isn’t really in the same nisch with the inspire and phantom

+BoxDesire It’s more durable with foam, not less. I think that it being light weight might improve battery life, but it will be harder to control because the wind can push it.

Looks like Parrot got some inspiration from SenseFly’s eBee when creating this.

It’s funny how this is called a “Disco Drone” instead of what it actually is, a smart glider.

Flying a fixed wing is totally different from a multi. I see this as the next wave of high tech flyers but will be costly to a pilot who has never flown a fixed wing weighing several pounds. Awesome plane tho.

I love the concept, but if you really want good shots it will be difficult. With a quadcopter you can stop and get your camera pointed at what you want. With this, you’ll be going fast at all times and it might be difficult to get good shots.
