Practice FPV formation flying in Avios Spitfire chasing a T-34 and a biplane at beautiful Bob Swenson Memorial Field with newly paved/striped runway – OCMA.
T-34 Lead Pilot: Stephen Chen
Biplane Lead Pilot: Fred Ortman
Chase Pilot: Robert Liao
FPV system: DJI Goggles RE Combo
looks great! It must be very challenging to follow a plane from changing view angles so congrats! Is video downlink lag noticeable?
I don’t know if you’re allowed to ignite onboard smoke bombs in that dry area but that would the icing on the cake!
By the way: My experiments with flour as a smoke generator were rather unsuccesful. It sticks inside the tube despite the airflow.
Great practice sortie! Altitude, speed and heading indicators are vital instruments in formation flying. The leader always reports these 3 values to facilitate the wingman in forming up. Using medium turns only (no steep or max rate turns) to change heading also helps the wingman to stick close. I hope you can experiment using it in the near future. Cheers!
Nice!
Which camera setup are you using with the sitfire? is it the DJI?
