FPV RC mini quadcopters are hot and in this video series I compare the following machines:
– Blackout Mini H
– Blackout Mini H with 6″ props
– ZMR250
– QAV250 carbon
– MXP230
– MXP230 Elite (carbon).
Which is the best mini racing quadcopter for you?
Blackout mini H videos:
Excellent QAV250 videos
MXP230 videos:
ZMR250
just search YouTube, there’s stuff there.
What about a ZMR250 with a nice FPV PDB?
ever thought of getting a hovership
Hi – looking forward to part 2 (can’t find it, so assuming it’s yet to
come)
I couldn’t stop looking that the bottle of Ajax.
+drink15 Me too! Funny that.
hello! I am in a bit of a strugle. I whant to step up the game from hubsan
x4 to 250 size quad! All though I have some problems finding something, so
I tought you may help! I am looking for something that comes with
everything you need for a reasonable price and good quality. I live in
Latvia, so its a bit harder for me, but I came across Emax 250 PRO Combo
set. My quastion is is it any good? Any way! thank you for the grate video!
Would you recommend the storm racing drone
get the new MB Epic 280!
Hey Bruce What happened to part 2 ??
You can get extensions for the QAV250, maybe not at the time of filming
this, I have no idea.
And is there a part 2, or maybe one coming..?
Thank you for they information. When can we expect Part 2?
Ditto.
Thanks for the info. I’m new to flying, but love it already! Have you
encountered the helipal.com storm racing drone? I’m looking for the best
inexpensive rtf 250 out there
Why don’t you do a review on the tarot 250 mini racing quad. It seems like
a good mini and should deserve a review by you. please review it.
Have you used/flown or done any tests on the tarot 250 quad.
I really need some help. I have a nighthawk 250 with a cc3d board. I just
uploaded a vieo of me discribing the issue. Can someone help me please?!?
Just point me in the right direction, or show me how you did it.
THX
haha…..the carry case was also a selling point when I got my qav250. It
fits in there perfectly! Its nice to just cary 2 cases when I go flying.
One for my radio and one for my qav250 (which also holds batteries,
antennas for my FPV gear). keeps things simple.
Are you and Dave, from EEVblog, related? Y’all have the same banter style.
I watch you both, and I can’t tell the difference if I close my eyes! I
watch you both, and really enjoy the info you share. I am a person that you
would say has “Hobby ADHD”. Just got into RC recently because as an expat
(US) in Kalgoorlie, WA, I HAD to have something to get me out of the house.
I have built a few quads, and starting to get into planes, but my skills
are a bit lacking. It would be great if you could put together a video of
how to fly RC planes (Modes, stick action, turning, takeoff, landing
….etc). If y’all have time!
the Reaper 500 or Stingray 500 variable pitch quad copter I think is the
top dogs.. review the Reaper 500 please.. I just bought one.. Love it..
Like your feelings on them!
I have been looking to get a mini quad and I have been looking at the Emax
250 quad. Its almost as cheap as the ZMR but the arms look much thicker and
tougher than the ZMR. However I can’t find a proper review on it and I’m
not sure about the arms being held by just 2 screws. Has anyone got any
advice on whether I should get the Emax 250 quad or not?
The EMAX is really nice I just finished building 2. Flying in the garage
while waiting for the snow to melt. They have a great combo with 2280kv
motors 12amp ESC’s and clone CC3D for less than 150US
If u want something RTF try out the STORM RACING DRONE I think it is a 250
sized quad but it may be a 350 sized
Awesome video! I cannot wait for part two! BTW, you can get angled motor
mounts for the QAV now and they allow for 6″ props!
Thanks,
Michael
Walter White?
hi, kindly tell me where i could buy a QAV 250 w the box, im also wondering
if its a complete rtf quad surely w/out fpv settings.. thanks for your help
and keep posting vids coz its a huge help for us newers. thanks and God
Bless
+bobot021070 incase you haven’t figured it out yet..
Where’s part 2?
12:53 (no cut no chase) lol tell it Bruce..
The qav now has adapters to tilt the motors and allows it to run larger
props.
sir your videos are amazing
Hey! i dont know what mini quad to get and im struggling to keep up with
how to make these quads and put them together. i am barely skilled with all
the screwing and soldering and have no clue on how to do these things. i
really am interested in the cheap chinese one yet dont know how to put
these together. would it be possible for you to put a mini quad for fpv
racing together for me? i would be very appreciative and id love to start a
new hobby in rc fpv mini quad racing! Thanks! By the way your channel is
awesome and every video you make is inspiring! Bye! i would also pay you if
you would like.
What language is he speaking? Certainly not English.
He is speaking kiwi! But it is not bad. There are worse kiwis. I actually
like how he talks… I wonder what he uses the Ajax for!
Where is part 2?
wheres part 2?
I cant thank you enough for your videos..they help so much in this
incredible hobby! Ive built a 500mm Quad…cant wait to build a 250 now.
thank you
Weight is #1… less weight = more battery = longer FTimes
Would love to see a FC shootout, same quad, swapped out FC and hear your
honest review. Great in depth reviews, keep them coming! #cc3d #naze32
#flip32 #kk15 #flip32plus
just buy replacment arms for the ZMR glue them together(the front ones so
its still light) and they wont brake pleas do this
hi bruce, i am a fpv airplane pilot for a long time, a couple of monts ago
i desided to get into the multirotors. bought myself a tiny micro quad and
been practice my quad flying. now i feel like i am ready. but i have a hard
time to choise a multirotor thats great for me… i been looking in the
miniquads, couse they are really cheap, was looking to the qav250 frame,
2205 emax motors and 12 a emax simonk ecs. (first off what do you think of
that setup?) but then again, on second thought, i do want a frame big
enough so i can in the future put a autopilot gps on it whit osd and all
the fansy stuff. and like i sayed i have been flying aircraft and got a lot
of pretty bulky and heavy fpv gear and big batterys like 5000 mah 3 cell.
so even though i alsow have a lot of 2200 mah 3cell lipos, and i got off
couse 5.8ghz 200mw transmitters, i do want to be able to put my hi-end fvp
gear on there to (1.2ghz 1watt and uhf rc transmitter, my gopro) so i would
be nice to have a rig that alsow can carry the 5000 mah lipos couse i have
tons laying around in the house. and even maybe be able to carry a gopro
gimbal… i guess if i want all of that i need to look to the 450class
quads ore some sort? but i want it to be fast and agile to if i desite to
go race it… 450 class seems so bulky to me already, ore maybe a 600 class
tricopeter… but you dont really have experience using tricopters right?
what whould u do in my case? i guess just get a miniquad and a 450 class?
🙂 but i dont have enough savings for that… can u alsow tell me what u
find of the qav setup i typed above plz? is it any good? are do you have
any suggestions that make it better. plz reply
already thanks,
best regards
+jelle buyckx First of all, the setup you’re looking at seems pretty solid.
In regards to your consideration for future add-ons, (GPS, OSD, etc.) you
should be able to add those to a 250 class quad, just be sure to keep your
wiring clean and you’ll have the room for them. As for the UHF and 1.2
gear, you’ll never get far enough away with a multi rotor for that to be
necessary. with a 250, you’ll be pushing 8-10 minutes with a 2200 mah, and
they are primarily used for proximity flying in a pretty immediate area.
If you are considering using a multi rotor as a camera platform definitely
go bigger, 400-600 class Quad or Hex. Since you already have most of the
gear, you should be able to build something up for around $350 (don’t
forget the Flight Controller, I prefer the Naze32 but they can be a little
hard to find in stock sometimes)
The 250s are a blast to fly, especially with a decent FPV setup so if
you’re just looking for some fun, stick with a 250
+Haystack Hall Thanks for the reply, i have had some time do do research,
now i think i know what i want. wat do you think of this setup? : f450
quad, emax 2216 820kv (950g max pull on 4s a piece) 25 ore 30 amp emax
simonk esc, i plan on using ardupilot on a pixhawk in stead of the nase32
couse the more advance gps functions on there (for the time being, i
suspect it to get better in the future though)
what do you think of that setup?
it should be able to fly on my 5000mah 3s lipos to i guess. whitch would be
nice… and i should be able to lift up a gopro and gimbal to right?
again thanks for youre reply! i really appreciate!
+jelle buyckx I don’t blame you for the upgraded board on a larger rig.
Other wise it looks good. Go ahead and give yourself the extra headroom
with the 30amp ESCs, the weight won’t make a difference and you’ll be sure
not to burn one out. somehting like that I imagine you’ll be running 8-9
inch props so carrying a GoPro on a gimbal shouldn’t be an issue. You might
want to look at motors that have a slightly higher kv, 900+ just to make
sure you’ll have the thrust if you’re using your 3S batts.
I haven’t played around with the larger quads yet, still having too much
fun with the 250, but the math is still the same when it comes to thrust
ratios. I’m pushing a 3.1:1 thrust ratio and I have plenty of punch when I
need it.
+Haystack Hall tru ill go for the 30 amp esc. the recomended prop for the
engine is a 10 inch even. i want to low kv motors couse they can spin
bigger props thats why i choise those. bigger props and lower kv makes it
more efficient. specally on hovering. and still get the same lift. i
calculated that the rig with the gimbal and gopro on it would weight about
1600g thats alsow whit a big battery in it. so that is the absolute max
weight i will propeble ever pull up. most of the time it will be less than
that. like around 1200g. 950g x 4engins= 3800g so i guess i am around the
same weight to trust ratio as u are right? but then again that is on a 4s
lipo… maybe not a ideal enging to fly whit 3s lipos…
u hava any suggestions on motors? i think it fits up to a 30 sice motor…
+jelle buyckx Like I said before, I haven’t gotten into the bigger quads
yet so I can’t vouch for any of the larger motors, but those seem pretty
decent. Another plus to the lower kv/biger props is the stability of it for
an AP platform.
Since you have a bunch of the 3S batts already, go ahead and get some of
the 11×4.7 props, those will put out 830 grams of thrust each, totaling
3320g That’s only a 2:1 with your camera gear so it’ll be a little sluggish
but that may make for some really smoth shots too. Save up some cash for
the 4S batts and use the 1045 props with them.
