Allow me to offer some definition. A drone “Operator” is someone who goes to Best Buy and swipes a card to get an HD aircraft that basically flys itself. A “Pilot” is someone who has spent years perfecting the art of flight on a machine that doesn’t rely of auto leveling and gps.

a lot of the backwards flying tends to be the gopro mounted backward and underneath for easy of editing

I just want to say that to do the backwards shots it’s possible he built what’s known as a cheater quad which means 2 cameras and you can flip a switch and see the reverse
Flying FPV is a way different style, and requires way other skill sets than flying dji drones. Starting with the drone being fully manual.
And finishing with the fact that the camera is sticked to the drone, and doesn’t move through all the flight 😉
It takes some time to learn how to fly and how to do tricks (depending on amount of time spent on it and the natural talent 😉 ) I think FPV drones should be used in more videos – because they do give an opportunity to catch the views from perspective not seen before
people need to understand that a fpv drone is a thousand times harder to fly than a dji one for example. You do everything yourself, no auto stabilization no gps …

I don’t think that sequence was filmed in reverse. The fpv camera was probably just facing forward.
no my friend he mountet just the camera on the back of the drone. i do shots like this too
That shot wasn’t on reverse, he just mounted the GoPro on the back of the drone

!! Correction: the camera doesn’t move, it’s stuck to the drone.
This makes it even harder to achieve these smooth af shots!

flying fpv is life changing. such a different view. Takes some time to develop the skills and knowledge of building and programming but so fun and worth the time put in.

What you have to know is the following 2 things: 1 Johnny did this with a analog video feed. 2 Racecopters arent self stabilizing. FPV has nothing to do with flying a normal drone. Its like playing with a toy car compared to driving a GT-Racecar. Aaaand: You are not controlling the camera. The racecopter IS the camera, its hard mounted. Gimbals are for people who cant fly ;).

Look up cheater quad. Dual cameras…ftw
