At this year’s Maker Faire, we catch up with Steve Doll, who has been using 3D printing to test and refine his FPV mini-quadcopter frame designs. His Hovership MHQ2 has been downloaded and printed thousands of times, and feedback from users has helped him design a carbon fiber frame as well. This is what rapid prototyping was made for!

+Bomber53 ?
We meet up with Hovership, makers of 3D-printed and carbon fiber racing
quadcopters!
ok, i think i found a new hobby
Yup, me, too! Still waiting on my quadcopter in the mail to start
practicing before diving into FPV.
Hmmm, interesting
Now fly that thing over the White House and see what is really going on
with the construction project.
You guys should enjoy flying quadcopters as long as it’s still allowed and
not forbidden by the Anti-terrorism legislation. It’s just a matter of time
until some terrorists use quadcopter drones for bomb attacks. I mean…they
already used real passenger aircrafts and nobody noticed it beforehand.

too bad I couldn’t go
Cool cool
Bad day?

This is amazing

“There is only Zuul!” Awesome man!!
cool meeting these guys this weekend.
+Nathan Knight Thanks for stopping by!
Feelin the FPV Love up in here.
Im really happy because of it, since thinking of building one!!
Own a ZUUL racehound 285. Its sick. The motor/esc/battery/prop package I
have on it makes a kilowatt under full load. If you rode inside it during a
punchout the G load would stroke you out. Its a simple build and a really
solid quad. Plus it has an extremely well thought out design. So many
options for configuration. Its not a “first” fpv quad but its the best
platform Ive built/flown to date. His hummingbird analogy is very accurate
but think hummingbird and a liter size sport bike somehow made a love child
. That’s the ZUUL.
+Stace Baker Good to hear you are liking it!
+Steve Doll I am! I toasted an ESC having so much fun. Now do me a favor
good sir and print some mhq2 arms. Ordered the parts for the frame but
wanted spares and I think I ran ya out of the rugged arms. BTW thanks for
combining my orders and the refund. Classy! I appreciated it.
I’d like to see somebody print out and fly a full smack 3d flying
collective pitch helicopter.
At 2:19 did he say protecting a GoPro?
+Weber Yes, our carbon fiber Zuul Superbeast has a cage to protect a GoPro
3d printing quadcopters are a definite part of the future, shared on thanks
for the interview http://www.facebook.com/droneracing
Пора автору памятник поставить при жизни. Кто за?
I want to do this!!!
ZUUL motherf@cker ZUUL!!!
Rig up some skills to build awesome nano quadcopters
was that a raiju I saw sitting there!? *droooooooooooool*
+Elite Funk Sure was 🙂
+Elite Funk 2:33, sure was, you got one on order?
no, i wish
That nano quad frame isn’t on their thingiverse page. Anyone have a link?
+Zapf It is still a work in progress. We are working on getting the flight
controller for it manufactured right now.
This guy should win a coolest hair award.
We meet up with Hovership, makers of 3D-printed and carbon fiber racing

Norm was asking for an example of what changes the guy made from public
input not sure why this guy didn’t understand.
Ad for Pepsi was better
With the unlimited things you’re able to create with 3d modelling, the
opportunities are endless.
