Any more videos
I love it dude I’ll be getting this soon because my nano fpv qx motors are
pretty munch on there last legs life wise so instead of buying new motors
from Horizon Hobby I could remove my FC and FPV Camera from it all I have
to get are the motors the Carbon H-Frame and those Hubsan props and I’m in
FPV heaven thanks once again Matt!
+3D/FPV MOFO! Oh man, you will love it! Its a great flying setup, so smooth
and stable… 🙂
Did you do a build video?
+Mad Scientist Matt RC UPDATE: I am rebuilding this with a better camera
and video transmitter and will be doing a build video 🙂
+ROLYATATAK Unfortunately no, sorry… I didn’t do one… I just recently
picked up a camcorder to start doing build video’s as well for future
projects though…
nice. wonder if you could fit the guts from a blade Glimpse on there.
+Mad Scientist Matt RC ok thnak you
+integra They told me the nano qx flight controller wouldn’t work, and they
are right… but there is a big difference between the nano qx flight
controller and the nano qx FPV flight controller… it works fine, thats
what im using in this video and it works great, especially in manual (rate)
mode, which i how i fly… the hubsan board will work, and its ok… I just
happen to use a Spektrum DX9 radio, so i wanted something with a spektrum
receiver built into it… sorry for the late response 🙂
+Mad Scientist Matt RC why does Pheonix F web site say to use the Hubasan
FC ? does not mention the Blade FC?
+pulsefrequency That is a good question, we have one at the shop I work
at… I will open one up in the next week and check it out… Although my
experience with the Glimpse is it suffers from a pretty short range for the
video link, even shorter than the VA1100 Spektrum cam/vtx setup…
If anyone wants a good longer range and higher quality video transmitter
set up, see my units here:
What are you getting on flight times? I have same setup but traxxas alias
motors and the motors get super hot. Getting about 4 minutes then lvc kicks
in. Using lectron 700mah 30c. How are your motor temps with the dark
motors?
+Jeff Paige I am getting between 5:00 to 5:30 minutes of hard flying with
it on the Lectron 750mah 25c lipos… I have experimented with 900mah 30c
lipos (generic brand i bought off ebay) but its just a bit too much
weight… on the 750’s, the dark edition motors are warm but not super
hot.. I haven’t tried the alias motors…
Im guessing this doenst come RTF
+TheOg Boosjukie No, it doesn’t but its not very hard to build, especially
if you already have a Blade Nano QX FPV that you can take the flight
control board and camera/vtx off of… took about 35 minutes to switch it
over.
just curious how did u wire the motors to your light controller, did u get
the attachments on ur motors or remove them from the flight controller and
solder them on the board, it says on the rcdrone website the 8.5 motors
wont work with the nano flight controller. Is that just because u need the
bigger battery?
+Bill Dedoes Not sure on the exact power, but I am running a 750 35c 1s
lipo and it works great, 5 minutes of hard flying…
+Mad Scientist Matt RC So this will allow you to use a bigger battery than
how much can the board handle ?
+Game Time The motors i used from micro motor warehouse came with the
connectors, no soldiering needed… 8.5 won’t work on the original nano
flight board, but they work great on the nano qx FPV flight board… you
just need to change the connector that connects to the battery because the
standard pico power connector can not supply enough power, i soldiered on a
JST connector, but a mini deans works great too..
The antenna and part of the board it is connected to look exposed and
vulnerable to breaking off in a crash. Had any problems?
+FauxShizzl They are open but i haven’t had any issues with damage yet…
had several crashes, no issues!
this will be my first build!!!! but question , i have the hubsan
fpv….will that transmitter work with this??
I think the answer is yes but just to clarify:
If you swap the full electronics from the h107d to this frame it will work
just like a normal Hubsan.
If you use a Hubsan flight controller and the Spektrum camera he is using
then you will be able to fly the Quadcopter as normal but in order to see
the video you will have to go into options (press and hold right stick) and
change the 5.8 frequency to what you have the Spektrum camera set to.
If do the exact build he did here with the nano qx then you will not be
able to fly the quad with the h107d controller but you can view and record
the video if you change the frequency to match your camera.
+Daniel Espinoza Thats a great idea!
+Matt Merritt ok thanks so much!! im going to record the whole build xD
since im such a newbie , other newbies will see how its done (even with
mistakes) lol
+Daniel Espinoza I’m not 100% certain, but i’m sure as long as your using
the hubsan flight controller that comes with it, it should work just fine!
Let me know how it goes after you build it! I used the nano qx fpv board
because i have a Spektrum transmitter…
<— (jealous) LOL Man that thing looks and flies awesome…
Man… I’ve had 1 FPV rig after the other not work for me for one reason or
another. It’s been very disappointing. Got a couple in cue now. I’ll
keep you posted.
+Quad Bruh THanks man, love to hear how its coming!
+Mad Scientist Matt RC For sure! I’ll be starting my build soon. Still
waiting on my Vtx and Rx to get in. Been working on a Hubsan X4D FPV build
in the meanwhile. Almost got it all put together last night when I got the
magic white smoke when I was testing it out. Trying to squeeze a Yi Zhan X4
FC inside that thing. I just love the Yi Zhan as a RTF micro over Hubsan.
Anyway, luckily the whole thing didn’t go up in smoke last night. I’ll take
another crack at it this evening. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
+Quad Bruh I would love to hear how you like the Beefs brushed board! I
have been looking at that and everyone i talk to seem to really like it…
GOOD call on the 135 frame, since this video I have broken an arm off the
frame and am rebuilding mine, but in fairness i had many crashes with no
issues, but this particular crash was from 100 feet and i hit the road very
hard… 🙂
+Mad Scientist Matt RC SHIIIIIIIDDDDD… I had to buy one. I got the 135mm
one as the arms looked a lil thicker. I’m still very crash prone. I’ll
probably do a Beef’s Brushed Board w FrSky MicroRx set up on this one and
run CleanFlight on it. I only have one set of CL-0820-15 and I think I’m
going to put them on my micro H. I bought a bunch of JJRC H6C motors in
bulk so I’ll try those. Either that or wait to until I can get my hands on
some more MMW motors. Anyway hope I have as good as results as you did. I’m
going to make a FPV back pack or use an 808 keychain FPV set up for my on
board eyes. I have Boscam goggles so I can’t use that nifty Horizon micro
FPV setup. I’ll keep you posted once I get everything up and going.
Where can I buy the JST connector? I just want to make sure I’m getting the
right thing. Is JST what’s on the hubsan x4? Do you need to solder it
directly to the board, or did you extend the existing wires? Thanks, great
looking copter!
Thanks!
+Nathan Manousos Lots of places sell them, an example would be
nice, but do you agree the image quality can be improved?
+Mad Scientist Matt RC you get around yet to that vid and gear my friend?
+Hans Ham Absolutely, I have another video coming out in the next week
where i rebuild this quad with a higher power video transmitter and and
higher quality camera and only add a couple grams more weight… I will be
providing links to the equipment and explaining how it wires up… 🙂
Great i need one now.. :)
does it realy fly that stable? I have a ladybird fpv right now but think
the nano board does a better job. What do you think?
+Johnny TSC It really is that stable, better than the ladybird (i have one
of those also) I think the nano flight controller does a better job than
the hubsan, but not as good as an alienwii board (if you can find one of
them, very rare)
How long is the quadcopters battery life?
+Mr KrAtAtA the gr8 🙂 I’m getting about 5 minutes of hard flying with a
750mah pack
I’m doing this same build with ask the same parts, do u have any tips or
trick to help build and can you tell me what motors turn what way. 2 have
black bottom and 2 have white bottom which spin what way? Thanx in advance
+Evan Noe I can’t exactly recall what motors turn what direction, I don’t
have the quad in my possession at the moment, but i will tell you this,
BLADE reverses the colors on their flight board connections to the motor…
so where the blade motors were plugged into the flight controller (say
black and white wire) you would plug in the red and blue wire using the
motors from Micro Motor Warehouse… basically, they purposely reversed the
colors unfortunately.. its important to get the motor color correct due to
the timing on the brushes in the motors… if you get them backwards they
will work for a small amount of time until it wears the brushes out… I
will do some research to figure out which colors go where if you want…
sorry for the late response, just saw your message
what kind of controlers can u use with the nano qx board
Great! And what range do you get ?
+Johnny TSC You can use anything Spektrum (or JR) related… like a DX6,
DX7, DX8, ect… I am currently using a DX9 black edition…
I’ve got a couple questions for ya.. Can I run all of those specs, the
frame, props, motors, batteries, and flight controller with my nano qx FPV
camera and transmitter?
Also to build that did you have to do any technical stuff, ie: board
programming, coding etc?
Or was it just a simple mechanical build, can I take apart my nano qx FPV
and buy those parts (besides the camera) and build it just like that?
What’s your advice? Thanks so much!
Btw that quad is awesome!
+MrKaNittel Sorry for the late response… this is a super easy build… no
programming of any kind, and yes you can use your Spektrum transmitter and
wire in your VA1100 camera and transmitter, thats what i am using… Its a
great machine, only advice would be to understand that some motors have red
and blue wires, and other motors have white and black wires… When you
unplug your original blade motors from the nano qx fpv flight controller
just know that blade does it backwards in regards to the colors… so when
you unplug a motor from the flight controller that is black and white, plug
in one of the micro motor warehouse motors that is red and blue… and vice
versa, if that makes sense… its important that the motors are plugged in
the right place on the flight controller, the motors are brushed with
timing in the a certain direction, and reversing them back accident they
will work for around 15 minutes, and then be totally worn out.. message me
if you have any questions, i would be glad to help you
How much is this
+xXPancake11 I used the Nano QX FPV flight controller for this build…
Thanks, also did you use the hubsan or the blade qx nano electronics for
this build
+xXPancake11 The frame is about $35 plus shipping for the bottom and top
plate from http://www.rc-drones.com
Would you say this is indoor capable or are 8.5mm Dark Edition motors too
powerful?
+Mad Scientist Matt RC Yeah, I ordered CJMCU with 7×20 motors for indoor
FPV.
+ssg Probably a bit too fast for the inside.. I mean, you could try it if
the inside of your house was big, but its a pretty fast setup…
Flies better than my 250 size!
hey i built this quad per your specs listed above, but now im having issues
with it cutting out and uncontrolled crashes like the lvc is being
activated or something any ideas or issues you had with nano qx fc i have
the fpv fc on this and soldered jst and bigger wires than factory direct to
board… thanks!
+Patrick Combs That is really odd? Are the motors getting old? Sometimes if
even one of the motors has an issue, it starts drawing too much current
which can set off the LVC… or if the battery is starting to go bad, not
sure about why this would be happening… Are any of the motors getting
hotter than the others??
the kit was delivered to me 24hrs ago. and no the motors all seem fine..
its got me stumped..
+Mad Scientist Matt RC Great Video! How good is the flight range?
hey Matt were are all of your videos
So, I’m about to order a lot of this stuff, but I wanted to be sure – the
8.5mm dark edition motors will work with the stock nano fpv FC? they won’t
burn it out? I am planning on ordering upgrades today and I am getting a
very similar setup (same frame probably) but I want to make sure these
faster motors won’t over-work the FC. Thanks!
+Lunaraa It is the 8.5 dark edition motors, but with the Nano FPV flight
controller, not the stock non-fpv version… the stock version cant handle
the 8.5 Dark Edition motors… Hope this helps
Looks like the camera is out of focus or there is a booger on the lens :-)
Great video mate. Looks very fun.
Nano QX FPV Flight Controller can’t fly manual/acro/rate mode right? Always
having auto leveling.
Hello Matt,
Wi you sell me one of these?
