How does it work?
POPO® implements an elegant push button quick release mechanism in the established 5mm prop shaft. Props that are compatible can use the mechanism as well as be mounted on non-POPO compatible motors, allowing pilots to easily mix and match. The system does not get in the way of mounting non-POPO compatible props, which are mounted with a conventional lock-nut and wrench, just like it works on any other motor today.
To mount a POPO® compatible prop, you place the prop onto the shaft, press the button, lower the prop onto the motor, release the button and then slowly turn the propeller while pushing the prop onto the motor. Pilots hear an audible click when the button pops out, indicating its ready for flight.

BR2205 2300kv.. Nice to see my $7 motors got “new suit”. lol
They had QC problems with some bearings bad from the box, but I hope they improve as they improved the visual and price. After a year, I still have 3 working fine. BTW, too dangerous these new popo. Nice review as always.
Great review and tests, man! ?
About that prop… That was scary! ?
Great overview and bench test
I personally would NEVER even consider the popo system. It takes less than a minute to change a prop, and why would I want a motor shaft with a hole in it horizontally, making it 50% weaker? The hobby industry manufacturers will be all over it, claiming how great it is, but the more props that fly off in flight, and the more motor shafts that break, the more merchandise they sell. For anyone that wants them, knock yourselves out, but they are not for me.
Too many negatives here for me. The performance numbers are unimpressive and the POPO system is clearly dangerous. If someone as careful as Gal can make a mistake attaching these props then I don’t trust myself to do it “right”. And I have no interest in a close encounter with a 5” whirling blade of carnage. I have to point out that a set of the lower KV motors costs $46.00 (@ $11.50 each) and a set of the higher KVs is $50 (@$12.50 each). So a set of either motors is closer to (or equal to) $50 than it is to $40. Just sayin’
I think that as more people are joining FPV, all prices of all companies are going down!
Watching Your Channel is Killing….
Is killing my wallet. Everything you reveiw, I want. I like the motor specs for long flights, great review too…
Words from getfpv CEO Tim Nilson:
“This is 100% a clone. Not genuine. Be very careful!! It’s amazing… we’ve licensed popo to all the main manufacturers. Why would these bangood guys not even check with us before cloning?! They’re selling their popo motors for a $3 premium. That’s more of a premium than all the licensed companies are charging. It’s amazing.”
It stands for pop on pop off not prop on Prop off ROFL
Glad I stuck around for the bench test. Have you tested rcx motors?
lol gees Gal carfull
I’m not very confident about this system, I wait to see some field tests 😉
I really dont think that they have a issue with tmotor or lumenier cause racerstar have a motor made with t-motor
Hi Gal, luminier has do that but that nevera good deal, I think is a good idea, but I always see another compagny do the same Motor POPO and no god quality. It’s why no good deal for me. ?
Make video on Crash test durability????
Where I’d like to see popo tech is in 11xx series motors that have the T style mount. Those props take like 3x as long to change as the single nut.
This mounting system is problematic as it has various points of failure. The propeller mount has to stand enormous amounts of force as well as the motor mount. A defect or accident with one of the two will result on a ejection of the propeller.
