The FAA and other regulators are foisting remote ID on the drone and model-flying community without any proof of its efficacy and sadly, hobbyists are swallowing the claims without challenge. In this video I try to highlight just what the real motives are and why it is so sad that so many are surrendering their freedoms so willingly.
One of the best summaries of the FAA’s Remote ID final rule can be found in this webcast by the FPVFC:

Thank you to everyone who supports this channel, rest assured that *I* will not be giving up the fight against over-reaching and unnecessary regulation of a hobby that is proven to be the savest aspect of aviation ever.

I’m stringing up some monofilament all over my air space 150ft above my house and catch what ever flies into my spiderweb. My air space, air piracy begins. lol BTW I been commenting on these forums about how Amazon is responsible for this bs since the talk of registration started.
This will never work. Nice try big tech and big govt. This is the same b.s. as gun laws. Dosnt stop an idiot killing people in a mall with an illegally obtained fire arm. Dosnt stop an idiot dropping nasty shit on a stadium full of people with an illegally obtained drone. There will always be bad people out there looking to hurt or kill other people. U did a bang up job of breaking it down thanx for that. How many people are going to monitor a system of a million drones all over the country flying at same time? Govt cant even get a bill signed in a reasonable time frame. There gonna monitor drones. Good luck folks. I have my doubts. Happy New Year!!!
Who has the power? The FAA has the power, you have a moving mouth and nothing more. If I could prove absolutely that 50 miles per hour is safer than 30 mph it would do nothing to the ticket or points on your license.
You do realize there are commercial BtoB deliveries of priority items happening now?
I love the picture you paint and I think it’s an accurate depiction of what might happen in the future in my opinion.
Always a good source of information. ?✨
How will the corporations maintain line of sight of their drone with a naked eye? If they can fly without maintaining line of sight of their drone, wouldn’t that means the hobbyist could fly FPV?
I appreciate you Bruce. ?
Nice to see someone understands what’s up. Bruce, you are absolutely spot on. You’ve eloquently spelled out several points I’ve been talking about as far back as the registration nonsense, and several points I hadn’t considered. When the NPRM came out last year, it was clear to me that the FAA was out to sell us the $1,000 rust bucket, as you so aptly put it. It disheartens me to see others in the community falling for the ruse and thanking our fearless leaders/despots just because they didn’t steal as much of our liberty as originally let on.
As I said in my NPRM comment, there’s nothing salvageable in the new rule. Nothing about it is good. The registration scheme was already too much, already an overreach (and an entirely unproductive one at that). NO ADDITIONAL REGULATION IS ACCEPTABLE.
If the FAA had the chance to go back in time, they’d shut down the wright brothers and violate them too…
Call your senators and representatives and raise Hell!!! They work for us. Period. Tell them to tell the FAA to regulate airplanes and not our toys. We do not fly drones, we fly toy airplanes and quadcopters. At low altitudes. Close to us. Not pizza delivery or packages Regulate commercial not private. The AMA will not help us so we have to get our elected politicians to do their job. Period. End of
Bruce- you are anything but feeble. Keep the rants up and possibly something great will come from them. Bezos reputedly makes $2654.00 a second,he doesn’t need drones to deliver his packages. Let him buy more trucks.
There may no danger but I know first hand how important it is to have a spotter out there.
AMA has not been working for modelers….
I will say this in the most charmed way I can, I am so sick of the “Uber Capitalism” we have here in the US. We all understand the need to make money but for many, some is never enough. Every single area of modern life is squeezed and wrung for as much money as can be had. That alone is not the worst part, it’s that so much of everyday life is left behind and forgotten unless a dime can be made from it. I see these FAA rulings as just another run down the same path. I know it’s not just the USA but I think it’s been honed to such a fine edge here that I honestly feel the quality of life in its many regards is diminished. Sorry, this just feels like one more nail in the coffin.
We are not necessarily naive. We’re just relieved that rather than rape and kill us, the FAA is only raping us.
Then why even pay for AMA if they not going to help?
Masterful analysis.
So I thought CASA was bad, but listening to this the FAA seems to be a communist organisation. But I do have a serious question.
If I was to travel to the USA, yes bylaw I would have to register my drone with the FAA ( I guess), but what would happen if I flew without remote id as a tourist then posted to you tube would I be in trouble with the FAA, or should I just run the risk screw registration and remote id
Thanks for sharing your thought! Appreciate that very much, because you are clearly a lot wiser and more experienced then most of us. Its a look behind the surface of things, providing a better view on the real reasons and motivations. Thank you again and have a good time (flying) ?
Take-home message: keep your butt cracks tight when flying RC!
This is my opinion! The FAA wants to mandate all of us hobby flyers to have remote ID in 30 months then the big players in the game like Google, FAA, Amazon and others should pay for and give each one of us registered flyers a FREE remote ID unit. I’m not talking about some vacuum tube monstrosity but a very lightweight tiny transmitter for our aircraft. The FAA says that three years is the life expectancy of a drone….I think not and will not buy another aircraft just to comply with another restriction that is based on zero evidence of our registered aircraft causing problems. I demand that my personal information be kept private! I we must have our personal information spewed out over the air then ALL aircraft including MANNED aircraft must follow the same rules. If we let the FAA push us out of our free use airspaces then they will come for more! U.S.A.
67 and flying models with my dad since I was 7 years old. Control line at first then free flight and R/C for 50 years. At this point in my life with regulations and $5000 fines has forced me to end my flying. I will not be taking grand children out for teaching the R/C hobby. ‘Tethered’ un manned craft like Control line or a Kite will be gone too. The regulations are in place and now Remote ID too. The Government end result is to ban it all so they are not having to deal with Terrorists buying a drone and blow it up over marathons and concerts. The model flying hobby is almost dead. More regulations will kill it.
Where do model rockets fit into this, have they even been mentioned?
They called it America.
