Got the new Tarot 250 and there doesn’t seem to be any videos out yet, so I made one while I tried to figure this thing out! Sorry if my narrative voice is a bit bad. I am not an actor and I am basically thinking out loud in this video as I try and figure out wiring, construction, and placement of components. I leave the wiring long so that I can later change the placements or if I don’t like this frame I can use the components elsewhere. This is of course the 1st video about this frame. I am currently working on moving everything around so that the CC3D can be on top in the center and the battery underneath etc…That will be in an upcoming video.
Here is a cool sticker I make (“FPV is not a crime”) ?
This is probably the strangest quad frame i had ever seen lol
Happy holidays and good luck with your new quad, it looks pretty
complicated to build!
yes it need quiet good soldering skills indeed !
Once it is done, it is a VERY advanced design. Everything is kept clean and
it is designed for use with the CC3D board. But..this is NOT a “temporary”
frame. Everything has to be permanently attached (wiring) But if you plan
to use it for FPV..there is no better frame than this one!
The CC3D atom seems to be even better….
Is that the one with gps?
Chadd it’s the tiny 8g sized down version. Basically the same as regular
cc3d just smaller
+Chadd Steimel I broke one side of the landing gear on my maiden flight. do
you know where I can buy it separately or any suggestions? thanks! on my
channel you’ll see a short video before the crash.. 🙁
I just ordered one .cant wait to arrive!lots of problems with this frame
but i like it. it is light and different .
Where did you all order ya frames from. I ordered one and cost me $32 and
also ordered me a cc3d.. this thing looks so dam sweet can’t wait to get it
and get building… looking forward to the summer to get out and fly it
along with my 450 running apm . 2.6
Great video by the way…
I got mine from ebay…I plan to sell a “revised” version on my website
soon.
What websites that.. ( yours )
+Robin Draycott I am still dealing
with suppliers. But I want to have a store that EVERYTHING we sell has been
field tested and the bugs worked out, so that customers don’t spend tons of
$ trying to “figure it out” I learned this the hard way! And people don’t
have money to waste….well, ever. So I want to change that. Should be a
few weeks before we are up and running again. (lots of videos to make and
stuff to build and crash!) We will also be developing an FPV specific frame
set for spring/summer 2015 release.
you can find it on ebay uk stock for £26.90 I think this is the quickest
and cheapest to get it in uk(god save the queen we pay twice for every
thing here in uk!lol
bangood
Got mine from China Al? Ex????? Cost me £21 delivered
+Chadd Steimel where I can see the original to compare .?
+wonderland I got mine from eby uk for £27 it must be a knock off if they
selling other for $180!! I ordred the equipments such as osd gps and vtx
vrtx camera from tarot site .I got the frame assambled now to see how it
feel like .I have to say it took me a long time but it was not a problem at
the end .it feels really light and then fragile when get loaded and heavy
and you dont want to crash it .or you have the spares. but it looks great
and different and if you into the hobby you must have one these !
+wonderland
+wonderland I have no idea. There aren’t many videos out there on this
frame. That’s why I made this one. Flying by the seat of your pants on a
build is a real P.I.T.A!
+Chadd Steimel two guys have done very nice setups on rcgroup but not yet
with tarot setup. mine would be tarot set up as I have ordered .I wish
there was a voltage filter for the camera on this pdb!
the landing skid is the same as the tarot 450 pro heli nice and cheap
Yes, cheap in price. But the plastic seems to be very strong. It also comes
in black
+Chadd Steimel very cheap in miracle mart
Hello, the cc3d is at the right place ?
why do you not put this in the center of frame ?
if it is not in the center of the frame is more difficult to tune.
Well that is the problem with this frame. They want you to mount the CC3D
in the front, on top, right behind the FPV camera which is no where near
the center. They do not offer any mounting holes, just a drawing of the
completed setup. I chose to mount mine on the bottom, upside down (to keep
the orientation) and further back to keep it more towards the center. I
didn’t have the plastic case they want you to have to mount it to the
top/front. I don’t think on such a small frame that having it in the front
makes too much difference. But I did notice that the self leveling was
“slow” and I think that has to do with the position. But in theory, the
board “should” work in the same manner. It still pitches and rolls like if
it were in the center, but having it towards the front obviously has made
the reactions slower. If you fly it in Acro, there is almost ZERO
difference. I feel they designed this frame with the Acro pilot in mind. My
company is designing a purpose built FPV CF frame that will address and fix
all of these issues. We are about to release a center mount for the CC3D
for this frame as well. I will post here on the video when it is released.
I agree. If you use horizon and auto level often this frame isn’t for you
it’s geared towards pilots who fly in rate mode.
Just ordered 1. I’m gonna throw a naze32 acro on there though
Link to the ESC program card PLZZZ. Thx
Would be cool to see the quad in action :)
I live in northern lower michigan and the snow is too cold to fly in. It
just blows all over. I used corrosion x but still scared! Lol
Great job! what did the build cost less the head set.
I was with the 3/19FA at Ft. Polk in 1976 as well.
A gun bunny! lol I was a TWAT for a while! lol
+Chadd Steimel 13B I could fill this box with all the jobs they gave me.
have a good one.
+Soldier53flyer Thank you for all you have done!
+Chadd Steimel Thank you, and take care.
Can the Naze 32 be used on this board ? thanks
Yes and you can mount it at any rotation, then tell the controller to
rotate in baseflight
Is the video signal clean and regulated or do I need to install a power
filter in between the board and my vtx?
Thanks
The signal for the most part runs through the integrated board in the
chassis. I haven’t had any issues and I have the cheapest video TX you can
get! hahaha But I also run circular polarized.
Hey thanks for the reply brother.
So you don’t get any lines in your video when you punch it full throttle?
That’s awesome I guess the integrated PDB cleans the video. BIG plus as
power filters are at least 13+ grams!
I also use Cp antennas.. VAS Ibcrazy bluebeam ultras to be exact. When I
built my 3S blackout mini h that also has an integrated PDB I needed to
install a power filter cause the power draw on throttle was causing lines
bad. I use a TrueRC 5.8 crosshair antenna on a nexwave RX module and
Ibcrazy bluebeam ultra mad mushroom on an ImmersionRC 600mw vtx
Have you flown it yet? Cause the lines won’t show up unless you fly
Thanks again brother
+Chris Garza well I havent “punched” it yet, there is the normal
interference I guess, but not bad at all. It is very flyable. But I don’t
want to claim to be an expert pilot by any means! I am an engineering
student though!, (but that means basically nothing! hahaha) I have recently
re arranged everything (put the board on the top center etc) and have not
flown it yet. Maybe the different placement might help. But with work and
school I barely have time to fly.
+Chris Garza There is a video on how to build a filter out of soft ferrite
rings, a capacitor, and some enameled wire. Costs about $4 but you can
basically mount it anywhere and use it for ballast :
How are you getting on with this frame, and has any one used a different fc
yet.
got every thing now sent to me installed all parts by taroct setup ,very
nice !BUT dont crash it !!!!
I haven’t crashed mine yet, how does it hold up?
turnnthrnboard on a nextbbuildnand 90 turn in ĉli
that camera is dead meat ,nice build though.
Hahahaha! yeah, not a fan of that placement either. But as long as you
FREAK OUT whenever it comes close to anything, it’s fine! lol
yeh i think i would worry if i was flying it as i crash overtime i fly ha
These frames should come with a medal you can wear proudly after you’ve
built it!!
Mine’s done, mini naze32 board works well mounted at 90 degrees on the
front.
I think this frame will be a game changer.
Thanks for a great honest review.
Nothing more true has ever been spoken!
cool hat !
Thanks for sharing, Chadd. You’re right, there aren’t many videos out there
for this frame, and it looks like you’ve parts are indicative of what most
would use. I was considering this frame to add to my fleet of HobbyKing
250s, but thanks to your video I think I’ll hold off, until Tarot comes out
with a 330 to fit my GPS and Mobius. Cheers!
At least the instructions are detailed!
Hi Chad, nice video, I am rather confused now though as you seem to have
built your Tarot 250 with the main board (with circuit board) upside down
to the Tarot instructions. On your model the battery socket is on the right
just in front of the rear arm facing up, in the Tarot instructions the the
battery socket is on the left just in front of the rear arm facing down, so
they DO intend that you mount the CC3D flight controller on the underside.
Unless your Tarot 250 build instructions are different to mine ! .
One more thing, where do you buy your batteries from ??? all the batteries
I have come with a female plug on, I thought that was the standard, you say
all of yours have the male plug on, your whole RC world seems to be upside
down !!!!!
How did it fly?
In acro (no stabilization) it flies fine. But in this setup (as per
directions photo) the stabilization is slow to return on the pitch axis. So
it feels funny. I have moved everything around (like it “should” be) but I
haven’t flown it yet due to getting new components (radio FPV cam etc) and
the snow of course. I will make another video soon. Also my companies
design is almost done in solidworks so that should be a buyable option
around early summer. This frame will also include a ferrite signal filter
built in etc.
why would you give this guy a thumbs down? He said he doesn’t do tutorial
videos often. You should be thankful that people spend the time to put
something like this together.
Yeah! I appreciate all the videos other people make, that’s where I get
most of my information. And sorry I’m not one of those full of crap
“narrative” types. Right on!
Flight video coming soon??
Bad Ass Build! Any flight footage?
That quad frame looks fantastic, good job on the build
Is there a parts list ?
Thanks for the video! BTW you’ll have a much easier time soldering if you
keep the soldering iron tip clean and tinned. Tin it again before you put
it away so it doesn’t oxidize.
You should have been able to mount the FC on top , all you have to do is
turn it so the usb is to the side and I am sure that CC3d software has an
orientation setting
hello a question as you have fixed the cc3d can not understand thanks…..
Giovanni
Thanks Chadd 4 this great review, It tought me that I need one ASAP. On my
way to the store now!
+Carlos Arenosa This is a very nice design and a VERY light setup! It’s
happiest when HAULING ass! lol
+Chadd Steimel I bought one, followed your tutorial video. Very helpful.
Thanks again.
Hi, would u pls share the pid setting (cc3d) on this tiny 250? Thanks for
ur help
