When hikers threw stones and caused a drone to crash here in New Zealand, they clearl broke the law. If that offense goes unprosecuted then it sends the message that it’s okay for the public to take damaging action against any drone or RC plane they find to be an annoyance. It also implies that compliance with the laws pertaining to aviation are optional and that “nuisance” or “annoyance” is justification for ignoring those laws. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Stay tuned for more on this. The rules that restrict us must also protect us.

YouTube are motivated to promote content that people want to see. I don’t think that there is a conspiracy theory that they are trying to push down the little guy beyond that the fact that mainstream media proves to be more popular. If they demonitized, is it because someone reported it?
Let’s all go make sure we all watch the original vid because of them trying demonetise it.
The law is there for both, protection and restriction. It is NOT acceptable that laws are not enforced bilaterally. I am so glad this channel raised this issue. , The CAA has a responsibility to do it’s sworn duty, that’s why the CAA is Government funded, to be impartial and apply the law. If not, sooner rather than later taxpayers will revolt. Then you’ll have nowhere to hide. Departments don’t take the fall, people do. Do you want to risk your career taking no action? And don’t think for a second this won’t happen because it will, faster than you think. We look forward to praising the CAA and it’s employees for applying the law as it is written. Even if its a strongly worded warning to this kind of attitude to throwing stones or any effort to down a drone. This action by the stone-throwers is tantamount to acting as a vigilante. If the CAA takes no action on this and doesn’t at the very least make a strong statement, then it won’t be long before things get worse… and then it will get ugly for the employees of the CAA who WILL be in the firing line. People always get the blame.
Reckless hikers cause massive fire by taking down a UAV aircraft illegally. New law will force all hikers to report their location, altitude and mushroom dosis.
Drink Red Top baking soda. It doesn’t have aluminum in it. Look it up on the internet how to take it. Get rid of cancer.
Just my thoughts from the side lines (very new to the hobby). It is very unlikely that those hikers knew that interfering with a drone is the same as interfering with aircraft. But then again, ignorance of the law has never been accepted as an excuse. At the very least, they were knowing engaged in the vandalism of somebody’s personal property and should face any applicable punishment for those acts.
The drone pilot was flying irresponsibly by ignoring warning signs forbidding flight and for approaching hikers so near that they could strike it down with rocks. For this reason, the drone pilot also should face any applicable punishment for their acts.
As for the rangers keeping the drone, unless it is being used as evidence for a crimes then it should be returned to the owner. Otherwise, after the evidence is no longer required, the drone should be returned.
The bottom line – none of this would have occurred if the pilot of that drone would have been flying his craft as a responsible pilot. That pilot did nothing but hurt the public perception of drones and their pilots especially seeing how the news handled this case.
I have a lot of annoying light aircraft flying over my house. The CAA shouldn’t care if I shoot one or two down to stop them flying over my house!
The General public are treating drone pilots like we are Mutants like X-men. They are scared of us and they are ignorant due to the fact that they are misinformed by the Media and the Governments.
In 2020 i would say about 99% of time the person throwing rocks is at fault no matter the situation.
In the USA there are very few citizen enforceable laws anymore… if you don’t believe me just ask Boeing’s Senior Scientist Dr. Mark Skinner who for whatever reason broke the rule of law and avoided his 30 ft properly line building setback by building his first house part way on his neighbors property… to me it looked like a straight line shown on the MCR estate’s sales literature.
And that was just the beginning of his building rampage as a Maluhia Country Ranches HOA Board Member who not only stopped my access by claiming as a MCR HOA Board Member he owned the subdivision road separating our two lots because the road easement was on his lots border and not mine… but as Boeing’s Senior Scientist on Maui he was recorded at an HOA meeting using his high security clearance status to threaten me and, in my opinion, do exactly what he said he did on record. I’ll just leave it at that as what followed speaks for itself and shows why you can never trust an authority of people going after money and opportunity to act in good faith. History class is real….
YouTube plugs what we search lol they plug u a lot on my channel because I search fpv stuff a ton
Did Drone users forgot to pay the Media any protection Money ?
Thank u for the information u give us and god bless ur daughter.
YouTube WAS great, then google bought it, and totally *WRECKED* it!
I think it’s good for everyone to stay in their own lanes. Cop wannabes do not help.
Not that I condone it, but if they don’t have to follow the law, I’m sure the police will turn a blind eye when the next drone operator beats these hikers within an inch of their miserable lives.. just say’n… The law only works under the equal-justice provisions..
The USA Today made a couple articles that were the same
So you made a complaint about some people throwing stones at a drone that was being illegally flown? Wow. Did you also file a complaint about the drone being flown illegally too?
Another thought… You said that a stone being thrown into the tail rotor of a helicopter could bring it down and yet you have repeatedly said that it was impossible for a drone hitting a helicopter to do that. Maybe the size of the stone matters?
Open your other eye Bruce!
