It’s very interesting to see this style of battery introduced into the RC world! The bug question is, How will it stack up to our standard that we all know and love today, the LiPo?! These Li-Ion batteries are actually very common in the electronic device world, and are known as 18650 batteries, commonly found in things like flash lights, e-smokes, and more! We are just waiting to see if this catches on, where it could possibly bring the hobby 🙂

Cool. I’ll stick with 6 x 18650 Lithium Ion. Thanks for the cool video!
Redo the speed test video with both types of batteries fully charged. Love these kind of “test” videos.
hi rc saylors im one of your biggest fans and i subscribed to all of your vlogs i was wondering if you could give me one of your rc toys or even this arrma fazon voltage please im begging you
i use venom NIMH batterys for the Fazon Voltage
Lol you go girl
I can say from what i say that the li-ion battery has a very small capacity and poor discharge of amps in comparation with your li-po 5000 mah. I prefer to use li-ion, you can get more time of playing than a traditional li-po because of the density more higher of energy wich you found in a regular li-ion cell. Try to use a better quality 18650 cell like lg hg2. You take 4 pcs connect a pair in pararel wich another the same to make a pack of 2 cell (7.4v) wich is 6000mah ! The best part is that this li-ion cell is cheaper than a li-po and they have very similar performance for more than half of the price in your li-po cell. This video i didin’t find usefull in this subject wich you had tried to explain if i didin’t understood wrong, thanks !
put a 6s in there lol
That’s one slow shitty rc. Running slow as shit on 2 s.
Same voltage same amount of cells but a higher discharge rate which puts out more power
Hello, so if I use the lithium ion battery then what should I change to on the ESC? Should I change to NI-MH OR LIPO if I use the LI-iON?
Li-Ions can be had CHEAP/Inexpensive. I can get 18 9800mAH Li-Ions for $16 (plus $11 S/H) or get 1 Lipo 5000mAH for $40plus (for quality ones). Li-Ions may be a Bit Slower but that’s a Small Price to pay for Cheaper Batteries and People on a Budget. Want to go Faster… Add 2 more or all 6 Batteries. Running 6 9800’s should give you Balls Deep Run Times and More Speed.
Good thing I didn’t buy this
You guys should get Abby a Redcat Rampage XT-E. She’d love it.
It was her drifting at the end, that pushed her over the top! -:) What was the weight difference between the two small Li-Ion batteries and the Li-Po one? How would the run times compare at the same weight? Would Li-Ion give better flight times at the same weight?
My Redcat Blackout XTE Pro seems to zip along a lot faster than that (stock), something over 50 kph.
Nice video. Will i still work if I were to put a 2s 7.4 5200mAh 30C LiPo? The instruction says max continuous discharge current is 25C!
I have been trying to get anything from youtube giveaways but..?????? i havent got abything but i would just hope thai i will win one of ur wl toys car or ….
Is it possible to put non stock li-ion batteries in the car? Which would you recommend? No stock batteries in my lhs in my country. Thanks in advance.
The lipo may have a higher discharge rate so naturally it would be a smidge faster than the li-ons
what mAh and Volts of Li-po battery u used with this one?
Thanks for the great comparison!
It is slow
Lithium ion has the same voltage as lithium polymer? Go do some reading dude before shooting a video
Ok, now how does it go with six of those lith-ion batteries in it? 🙂
You didn’t really do a good test. Out of the box its set on easy mode. If you turn the dial on the bottom left all the way to the right, it will up the power on the machine. That will get you 25mph like the box says.
So one of the things I think you should mention is the C rating of the batteries. I am not positive but I believe despite battery chemistry the amount of power available for the ESC could be affected. For example if the lion batteries had a 10C rating and held 1500mah it could put out 30amps but if the lipo pack you used is 20C and 3000mah it would put out 60amps. Which would lead me to believe that if you are using a 45amp ESC the lion would not allow it to run at full capacity while the lipo could provide all the draw the ESC could pull. This was how lipos and C rating were explained to me when I switch my planes over to lipo. I could be completely wrong about the ESC draw but the amp output by C rating math is accurate. Battery capacity time C rating gives amp output.
I love your videos keep up the good work guys! … and Popeye too.
higher capacity means less voltage sag at full power (assuming equal C rating, which they’re almost certainly not as Li-Ion have low discharge rates). apparently this more than makes up for the additional mass.
Buying this for a gift. What is the charge time for the stock lithium ion batteries included?
Nice to see your channel growing I’ve been here since five thousand keep up the good work
so cool i found you guys this is awesome i’ve never used electric only nitro and starting my soon to be 3 yr old !! should be interesting
REVIEW THE ARRMA CYLINDER BATTERIES PLZ! FILL UP THE CAR FULLY.
Nice Gloves! You work for UPS?
you should try this with same big batteries!!!
Great Chanel
What would be the difference between running 6 of the lion batts compared to lipo batts (run time and cost)
2 of those little things were 7.4 volts ? wow a lot less C is what makes the difference i guess
You guys are great with what ever you show us.
Just love your videos, keep going and do more planes. We live in AZ and can fly most days.
The lipo seems so much faster
Just the run time makes it worth the upgrade, but adding 2 mph at that low of a speed makes a huge difference. ?
20 MPH… Whoa-Kay… *sigh*
Love to drop in a Sidewinder ESC & 3800kv motor and have some *real* RC fun!
Thanks Saylors and as always, left click! ?
PS Merry Christmas! ?
Hot Rod Abby ?
Wow I really love your video because you are a good rc unboxing and test really loved it and one question did you marryied?
Love your vids as always guys and it’s clear Abby has the magic hands for cars and trucks ?
Nice truck. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.
Would you revieuw the hubsan h502s
good vid
Please don’t link random li-ion batteries on amazon. Those are of questionable quality, and a false capacity (the best 18650s at at 3400mah at best). Please do some more research and find yourself a set with the appropriate discharge ratings, and a real brand on it (panasonic, samsung, lg)
great video showing the difference. i just want to elaborate that the perceived increase of speed while the actual speed doesn’t increase much is due to the higher C rating of the lipo batteries. The Lipo is able to provide more amps to the motor during acceleration and the Lithium-ion cells while drawing high amps experience voltage sag reducing acceleration. When the truck gets to full speed the current draw is reduced making the speed very similar. If you used 4 or 6 of the Lithium ion cells you would notice a performance similar to the lipo due to the 18650 lithium ion cells being able to provide 2 or 3 times the current of just 2 cells alone
Abbey for the Win! I was pulling for you. Lol Great video.
This was great. Informative, useful…I wish all of your videos were shorter, like this one was.
natey nate nate where the channel ur always talking about, i mean ur channel ANYWAY I WANT TO KNOW IF YEA IF u can beef up a dsistaine truck with li-po?
I think You kinda miss point here 🙂 Lipo 2S 30C – bout 75A output. Li-ion 2Cells – 35-40A output (at best, heavily depends on element quality etc, usualy between 10A-20A per element). What happens with higher current is, You dont gain much speed (for that You need more voltage) but.. Acceleration and torque are things You gain a lot.. meaning car seems faster and more responsive.
Get a rack of efest 2800 18650’s it may blow the motor idk
LION BATTERY
There is a notch in the battery cover tray for the wiers… never mind, y’all are goofs.
Turn your remote throttle trim up, that’s not full speed. Bought 3 for the kids this year. They are awesome.
As far as my knowledge goes (which isn’t very far) the discharge rate of the battery (C) makes a difference in how fast your car goes. Say you have 2 3s 5000 mah batteries and one has 25C the other 75C. You should see a speed increase when going from the 25C to the 75c battery.
can u disclose the c ratings of lipo and li ion battery?.. and what motor does ur rc car run on?.
have u looked at the c ratings?. of both batteries
I love your videos ? Awesome
you should test it with alkaline batteries
The tires sound like they’re plastic
If it’s brushed the more you drive it the faster it will go once the brushes are broken in
Y’all are in Catlettsburg? I get up that way on business from time to time.
Shout out to another KY resident and a former UPSer myself!
I did 26 MPH with with four Li-Ion Arrma batteries. Could only get 18 to 20 on 2 batteries. I also found that using a good quality NIHM battery also gave me better tun times, vs what was advertised on the box. But didn’t really change vehicle speed. The box says 25 MPH, and you can get it. It is fun to change up and add other 1/10 scale RC bodies on the truck.
Nice to see your channel growing I’ve been here since five thousand keep up the good work
you should test it with alkaline batteries
It’s faster with lipo because the battery can now supply the motor with all the amps it can put out. The li ion 18650 has a limited amount of amperage drag ability telling me the motor is pulling the most out of the li ion batteries that they can handle.
That thing goes so slow my RC truck can go 35
WOW! THAT THING IS SLOW
is the reason they say go no higher then a 25 c is the fact they wont fit in lol i havea foureon 2s 30c 5200 mah lipo and it only just fits in if you take the battery tray out??
