Let’s see how a DVR compares to a live screen when fed the exact same signal.

The DVR maybe a tiny bit better… but it is at a point when both are basically useless anyway… so as others have said Clearveiw is looking for an excuse. I know the DJI stuff you tested has wicked latency… But I bet flying a drone slowly at the same distance it would work many times better. Long range flying the mavic for example the video is so much better… I look forward to the day when we can mavic quality video with reduced latency… that day will come and ll of this analog crap will be forgotten about very quickly.
I’m done . ClearView is just trying to save their own ass. But thank you for all your efforts.
look mostly the same to me tbh both show when the signal is getting bad and unflyable.
Clearview module will damage clearview’s reputation tbh.
They shouldn’t have even announced it until they were confident that it was going to actually perform like a proper clearview and not just a bad module.
Empirical testing will always be open to interpretation and any biases on the observers part will affect the results. You are exactly correct in your process. You presented the data and we will draw our conclusions. The horse is dead!
Would it be possible to film the monitors in a dark room with the lights turned off? The glare in the upper right screen is pretty annoying.
The DVR doesn’t look like it’s even recording in 1/4 D1 resolution, it looks terrible!
Recording the live view with a HD camera pointing at four identical screens showing live views is perhaps the easiest way to show the difference between the receivers, because you’d need an expensive rig (1 DVR that can record 4 D1 streams, or 4 DVRs that can record 1 Ds stream) to capture all 4 streams at once in high quality.
The bottom 2 are really bad… I wouldn’t bother with those if I was you! ;op
yea they both look like shit!!!
CV is reaching. Steele did his test as well and had very similar results to JB’s
DVR is better
To me the DVR looks worse. For a start it looks like it has had been compressed to hell and back. UnclearView is not only not worth the money, it is limited in functionality (cannot blend short and long range like a diversity) and, at its best is not any better than anything else. GAME OVER.
It seems to me that my DVR somehow gets rid of the videonoise that I get at throttle punches with high S batteries. I might be wrong but I sometimes recall it to have been way worse than my DVR footage shows.
Josh keep doing what your doing brother. Even if it gets a lil old, at least your putting it out there for us to know. I’m glad you are taking the time to prove out as much of this stuff as possible. Your videos have taught me so much and given me so many tools to use in y FPV journey. Thank you for continuing to dig and get results as unbiased as possible!
Now the only thing I am interested in is the CV base station vs their new module.
From someone that has been selling, installing, and servicing high end CCTV systems for nearly 20 years:
If anything, the CCTV DVR (or any DVR) would be producing a poorer image since it is compressing the video with H.264 or MPEG4 or something else depending on what model it is (I’m assuming it isn’t a multi thousand dollar box like the ones I work with). The raw analog video signal is always going to look better.
C-mon clearview, it sucks for the company to lose some reputation, but it sucks worse for people to shell out 300% more money on something that is only 10% better, if that.
This is Intel vs. AMD Ryzen all over again…
Splitting signal, will “encounter insertion loss that will weaken the signals distributed beyond the splitter”. installing a distribution amplifier or antenna preamplifier can help. The screen on the right is much better until last seconds and loosing signal starts, than left one is much more “reliable”!
Ending made me chuckle out loud, and my wife glared at me. Good skills 🙂
Hey Josh, was wondering you said you were using a “Y” splitter cable? Is it only a cable ??
