APM 2.5 ? Sorry, even after a bit of research, I have no idea where to
start ;( Just seems the people around ArduRover have accomplished this,

i think i know why when you played the tennis game the man on left side is
almost hit, because he wear dark t-shirt and you used IR sensor.. maybe
sonar sensor work better

you really need a sensor that can see about 20-30 feet. otherwise, hitting
the object you are trying to avoid might just happen…. consistently.
3-6 feet is a joke if going over 5-10 mph.
RPi with Video & OpenCV would do the trick quite nicely. with all the src
available already, making it track objects would be a piece of cake.

+Pier Lim Late answer but… IR is more reliable and has a faster read
speed. Sonar uses sound for distance and with a bunch of quadcopter blades
moving the air around bad stuff can happen.
