I really like all of your videos, you are always experiencing new things. But, please, don’t fly that high, I am currently learning how to fly a light aircraft and you are endangering every pilot of lights aircrafts. If the drone collides with an aircraft you can really destroy the wing…and cause a crash.
Regulations or not, smart or not, don’t be too confident, the day you don’t see an aircraft before it’s too late you will kill someone. The risk is not worth the consequences…seriously
And you can’t ask somebody to trust you with his life because you will hear him.

I will try this but will add a tube with parachute on top of the drone, with release on servo, its 200 size with 4s, i think it could work, my transmitter is 2 km range. Only 1 things bothers me, i will see it only for some 300 meters.

if u put thruster rings around your blades they will help stable free falls and slow the fall better

If you elevate the motors higher than the body that should solve the stability problem. And here’s the experiment I want to see. Drone is launched hanging below weather balloon to upper stratosphere. The balloon pops, and a release system disconnects the drone so it freefalls from near-orbit. The drone is programmed so the motors don’t start until it reaches 400′, then it activates and flies back to you and lands. If the drift puts it out of range of being able to fly back, then maybe a glider type drone would work better. Think this could be done?

you should try this again now that we have blheli 3d mode so you can just idle the motors an maybe glide a quad in control like an auto-rotation.
