Pros
– Clone of both Syma X5SC but with Syma X5HW capabilities. Looks like the X5SC, but with altitude hold feature.
– Camera is pointed directly forward for horizon view.
– Uses widely available and cheap Syma X5C batteries.
– Includes on/off switch.
– Automatic landing.
– Stable yet maneuverable flier. Does very tight funnels
– Headless mode and one key return.
– Automatically lamds itself on battery depletion (does not drop from the sky).
– For automatic landings, the quadcopter knows when it’s on the ground and will automatically shut its motors down.
– Does not require FAA registration.
Cons
– Although the automatic landing feature worked, I could not get the automatic takeoff feature to work.
– Low resolution 640 x 480p recorded video. Both screen and recorded video becomes very laggy as distance to the quadcopter increases, with frozen and dropped frames. But this is true for most WiFi FPV fliers.
– Quadcopter’s motors are running in idle at all time. If you crahs, it’s very important to manually stop the motors with the controller (move and hold both sticks down and inboard), or you will risk damaging the motors.
– Although the quadcopter will land itself on loss of signal (LOS), its descent during LOS is very slow. There is a risk of flyaway if LOS occurs while flying high. As such, when you do fly high, make sure to fly upwind so that the quadcopter will descend toward you if LOS occurs.

Wich beginnner 5.8ghz fpv quad do you recommend with altitude hold?
Bah! Another Wi-fi quad. Video is laggy, choppy and not very usable beyond
25-30 yards. Since this wi-fi interference and (lack of) performance
problem has been known since they started making these 2.4ghz wi-fi quads,
I am amazed that manufacturers still make them .. or that people would
still buy them. The quad itself doesn’t fly bad .. so maybe just get the no
camera version and stick an 808 on it if you want video .. or get a X5C
camera, since it appears to have the same port (but then, I wonder if the
throttle trim would activate that camera .. who knows). As for price, there
are a few Chinese e-tailers out there that have the “real deal” (Syma X5HW)
for less than this one .. probably because not too many people want 2.4ghz
wifi quads .. even cheap ones. Oh well, thanks for the review. Glad you

Off topic but where is the antenna on this board? I want to do a range mod
and can’t seem to find anything that resembles what I have seen in videos.

Ohhh. That camera have huuuge latency, Transfering videofeed on a wifi band
is cheep,, but really bad. The thing that suprice me is that phantom3
standard (499$) and 3dr solo (899$) also use the same crappy option as
these 40-70$ toys,

Would you recommend this one over the Syma x5c for beginners?
I have been practising with a DM003 and have had a Syma X11C before and
have recently started looking around for a larger Quad. I like the Hubsan
GPS Quad that you reviewed and think its probably the best priced Quad for
its features around at the moment. I have also been looking at just basic
Alt Hold models with Syma X5 and X8 models looking good. Wishing the long
flyer JJR/C H5P was Alt hold.
Basically as you have way more experience and have used all these models
which would you suggest I look at or is there an alternative ? I’m by no
means an expert and only want a stable video quad so sports quads are not
really of interest.

Both L15 and L15FW are waterproof? Because I bought one and when I receveid
it came into box Lidirc L15. But when I bought, was Lidirc L15FW. So, they
both are waterproof? Thank you!
Just got mine today and went out and played with it. Return key doesn’t
work for some reason. Quad just flies over me and goes different direction,
almost lost it today. Can this be calibrated? Anybody knows please help.
