#DJI #Mini2 #Review
Full Hands On Review of the DJI Mini 2. I do a speedy full unboxing, review the build quality and all accessories in the Combo version. I do a side by side sound comparison with the original Mini and then take it on a full flight, covering the Pitch & Yaw settings and how it flies under full throttle in Sports Mode. How does it handle? Do you lose signal? How fast can it fly? I put it through its paces and let you know what I think….

Happy flying everyone…. Ian
Speedy unbox, sound test and full flight. It’s all here. What’s your thoughts? Have to say I’m surprised at how much of an upgrade this is….. Cheers, Ian
Newbie here, how far will it fly using only the controller, what more equipment do I need for a far distance, and what extra will that cost..Thank you….JK
Great video, many thanks! Subscribed
Great review. I am right on the edge of getting one! I was wondering about public liability insurance, did you get it, where from and how much?
Can you update the home position? Say if you are on a walk, you want it to land in a new position. Is this possible?
Does it still work OK, if you loose sight of it? eg if you take off from a clearing in the woods, then likely you can’t keep it in line of site for very long.
Your review has inspired me more, and I have more questions!
Does the phone need a permanent connection to phone network and internet connection?
What happens if you are in a remote part of the country with no phone signal?
I’m curious, since I live in Skye, what’s the maximum height limit of the mini 2? Basically I want to take footage of the peaks of the Cuillins and being confined to a wheelchair I cannot ascend these hills? THANKS
Great review, was just about to buy the Mini one, do you think it is worth to upgrade to the 2?
I have a mini 1 and would love a mini 2 except for the controller. This controller is to big to fit in your pocket. Nobody has asked why DJI havent used the Mavic pro controller as although I havent seen one in the flesh looks in photo’s the same size as the mini 1 controller. Maybe this is a thing for the future on a mini 3 or mini 2 pro
Max altitude?
hi Ian, after watching your review of the DJI Mini 2, I figured you will be clued up enough to give me an answer to my question regarding a comparison between the mini 2 and the old dji phantom 4.reason I ask is because I owned a basic phantom 4 for a couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed flying and taking vids from around the Peak District /Wales etc, but I stupidly sold the drone after the Gatwick airport incident where they was being terrorised by an irresponsible drone flyer, and end results was they clamped down on flying drones so I sold up thinking that nobody would want one and sales would drop and interest in them would flop.now after me watching vids on here about the mini 2, I am getting the urge to by one but I could do wit knowing what is the capabilities of the mini 2 against what I had in the phantom 4, is the distance capability better with the mini 2, and is the camera as good as the phantom 4?, I am aware that the mini 2 isn’t as quick in sport mode but I just love the fact it can almost fit in your pocket to take anywhere, where as the phantom would be in a ruck sack and everything about it was larger and heavier.so what im basically asking is, with the mini 2, am I getting a drone that has the same capabilities as the phantom 4 apart from the top speed, which I think was 45mph on the phantom in sports mode, and is the mini 2 capable of flying further due to the ocusync…cheers and love your review..wayne
Love the dogs!
What were you saying about a ‘crazy little dog’?
I believe the DJI Mavic product boxes deserve keeping? as. well
Agreed the Mini 1 is louder.
Hi Ian, whats the max distance you were able to get?
Evening Ian,So I took the Mini 2 up the first flight today.I initated the RTH.I then got a message saying that because I was within 20 meters of the home-point then the RTH would not operate, problem being I was like over 300 feet away with the RTH set at 100 feet altitude so I landed manually. Also when I tried a circle quick shot,It done the 321 count down started recording but didn’t move.In the meantime I have re calibrated the IMU+Compass and swapped the remoter controller over to the Mavic Air 2 controller and shall try again tomorrow weather permitting, any ideas on solving this RTH problem, thanks,Alastair.
Just bought this and sold my Mavic Air 1. So very pleased with it mainly for the occusync and portability but now after watching your new rules video, I’m even more over the moon. Thanks for your channel, great info in a very clear and concise delivery…All the best for 2021

Given local bye laws (compared to CAA regs) it’s virtually impossible to fly in London. They’re kind of pointless here.
What size sd card would you recommend…
Is this a good drone for a beginner
Great video, I have mini 1 will batteries do both Mini 1 and 2, if so it would mean I don’t need to get the combo pack.
Hi Ian, I wanted to say that it’s been a while since I watched your videos but after revisiting you today I really enjoyed your video editing and how your presenting style has developed and I will be back.
Nice one Ian. Following your recent video on the updated UK law I have ordered a mini 2. Looks like it will give me the freedom to film in areas I can’t with the Mavic Air 2 so good to have both for the appropriate locations. Cheers and keep up the great videos.
Good video! I have a Phantom 4 Pro, Mavic Air 1, Mavic 2 Pro… and now the Mini 2… I’m impressed with this drone. This little drone flies like his bigger brothers and the transmission signal is SOLID. The fly more combo is the way to go. I agree with you, I like the bag too.
It needs a fitting for a neckstrap. With a ‘phone attached it’s top heavy.
Hi Ian
Enjoying your vlogs but I don’t think it’s a good idea to sh people how to fly a drone so close to your face lol.
Just a friendly thought ?
Should I sell my mavic air and get the mini 2 instead?
Any extra sensor on the 2 ?
are the batteries for the mini 2 the same as the original mini ?
Thanks, very useful review. I have sold my P4 so will try the mini 2, and may well sell my mavic pro.
These days size and low noise are essential and ability to fly with very few restrictions in this sub 250 class is the icing on the cake.
I do not want hassle when flying, I just want to enjoy what I do.
4K and raw and occusync and reasonable wind tolerance are a real bonus, I do not need obstacle avoidance, it has never activated on my current aircrafts.
Good to have a UK review, thanks.
Good review, buying this today
Are the batteries interchangeable between the mini 1 and 2?
Loving your content! I have the mavic air 2 and love it and multiple fpv quads and am hoping to start to take my love of this to a profession going to start by taking the a2 c of c but just ordered one of these little guys to give a bit more freedom bought it early because of it staying in the a1 cat after the 2 year crossover. Thanks for all the info on all of that helped so much!
11:35-11:39; I note a “hot spot” of light passing across the field. DJI Drones seem to do that. Any idea what it is??
But you realize the flip side to being “flimsy” is that when you crash they are less likely to break that then rigid ones? They never upped the processing power, they just unblocked it. Think about it from a technical pov. Someone needs to strip it and see it was hardware limited. Now they unlimited it hence why it can do 4k.
Hi any filter recommendations please.
Great Video! Very helpful thank you.
Hi Ian, enjoyed your videos well done! I have a question please: how does Mini calculate altitude when flying off from a hill edge into a valley? Especially thinking about RTH altitude I should set – if I start on top of the hill and set it at 30m it will be more like 80 as soon as I fly away above the valleys if you know what I mean? So is altitude dynamic or always in reference to home point stored?
HI Ian you have convinced me to look again at DJI and this small drone, regards TJK UK.
Yep, you’ve convinced me m8, nice review ?
Well done as always great Informative And review, keep up the good work ,Pete.?
Hi ian, just a question I think you may be able to help me with. I live in a very steep remote valley in Yorkshire, if I set my return home height to 40 metres and fly up the valley 50 metres high than the home point and my mini 2 has to return home for some reason/ loss of signal. Would it raise 40 metres and return to me or descend 10 metres into the ground?? Many thanks ady
