I wanted to figure out how fast the H501S will fly in semi-manual mode (altitude hold). The quadcopter made in above 20 m/s or 45 mph before flipping in mid air and tumbling down. Since the speed test was done at close to 300ft altitude, I was able to re-enable GPS hold and with full throttle up the quad recovered at only 30ft off the ground. Video is stabilized via YouTube.
good video i have also that drone and i can’t save it when it falls
Happened to me once too. Recovered safely just above trees. That day I learned to full throttle, decrease the speed for the drone to get a little more balanced and again full throttle for max speed. Love this speedy little drone.
i had this happen to mine and i wasn’t so lucky it hit the ground but just broke the props thank god
that happened to me one day almost crashed on someone elses house…it was tha wind a quick throttle release and probably not calibrated perfectly….saved it like you did thank god i was high enough
GPS is auto cut off if the quad is upside down.
at this moment hit GPS lock to regain control
I have one also. I routinely do about 12 m/s around 27 mph. I have had it up near 20 m/s but, I noticed the same tendency to start flipping and immediately throttled off and GPS mode before it flipped. I won’t go faster than 12 m/s after watching this I felt my stomach turn… I don’t think this is a firmware thing… I think it’s an aerodynamic thing…
I have one and love it. Do you think this really goes 45mph? If so that’s pretty bad ass
What version of Firmware are you using on the quad?
