You’re the first person to show that the DarkMax has problems. I had the same issue with the UART. Also, they had the yaw orientation set to 90 when it should be 0 degrees. So needless to say, my maiden was a short one. lol Furthermore, it had an awful twitch in the roll axis which I fixed by raising the roll I-term. But sadly, I got a failsafe today (or the FC froze, still not sure) and I crashed and broke an arm. Many have had the same issue but I never hear about them in reviews. I heard there were two versions. The first one had a round buzzer, and the second version has a square buzzer. So far, many people with the second version experience freeze ups or have a failsafe. I wish I could have tried your solution with the rx plug. I ordered a Hyperlite Floss 2 frame and I’m gonna use the guts and motors on that frame. Then I can troubleshoot the probs if they still exist. Again, thanks for the honest review. I had to comment so others can be informed of the potential probs.
I’ve had quite a few encounters with dog walkers at parks. They expect me to keep my quad in control and away from them and their property (which I always do), and yet they all too often can’t control their dog and keep it away from me and my property!

Consider getting some glove liners. They are very thin and won’t keep your hands “warm” but they can help enough without loosing too much feel. I got a pair in a local running shop, but you can get them online. Make sure you order a silk or nylon pain, not a knitted pair.
Great review mate! Say, is there a way to improve the stock Rx with an antenna swap? Perhaps to the coax style so the active element could be better placed outside and away from the frame??

I got mine partly sorted Today Wayne, Like you I had to switch to Uart 6 for the RX…The supplied D8 Mode RX worked though, and the Firmware loaded on the FC was very recent..The Camera is a bit weird though, mine was not set up at all, WDR was off and it was set to NTSC Mode which has been doctored in a weird way. Stretched to an unnatural widescreen mode which cuts off a lot of vertical view, very odd. Switched it to PAL and it gives a very standard 4:3 ratio, which actually looks really good on my big Monitor. Im a bit miffed, because Andy RC thought this was a 16:9 Camera. It isn’t.
This Camera is not quite placed correctly in the frame, had they moved it up 6mm it could have been adjusted easily without that rear plug on the camera fouling the ESC board. I may re-drill mine.
Im looking forward to some test hovering soon though, it’s going to be a beast, even on 4S.

Wayne you can get heated gloves powered by AA’s, might help if only to warm your fingers up. Also could get some hand warmers to warm your pockets up for in between.
