I am a big fan but dude… a 200mw VTX antenna and xm receiver for long range ? I don’t think so amigo. At best your going to get 1 mile on that build with those specs.
Long Range with 2.4ghz? MFG
Damn! They are thick motor wires!#?
How long did this last
The XM + is good for 6 kms at height, but not with its antenna taped to an Arm.
Amigo… lo siento pero me parece un pésimo montaje… el cubo demasiado justo, te molestará pasar los velcros….
Las antenas en mala posición ya que, el carbono del brazo te hará de pantalla en una de ellas y en la otra te molestará para la batería…
600mw would be better for long range ?
The lightest 460-mm quadrocopter in the world. Cross Frame 50g
Any estimate on a part 2 for this build? I’m interested to see the install of the crossfire and Unify (or other LR VTX) since I have an emax magnum build I am interested in converting to long range. There’s not much info online about upgrading these stacks..
This is not a long range build. It’s just a normal range 7″ build.
You never place rx antenna along with the frame! besides what is the flight time on that thing? i get 10-12min on my cheap build 5″.You can also buy 15cm antennas instead 10cm that ship with xm+
can we install gps and gimbal to this frame drone will it be powerful and durable so that esc don’t burn up I’m looking for powerful yet light weight and medium size frame n good motors
This is the first of your videos that I’ve watched. Keep up the good work, and don’t listen to the haters and baseless critics. If they can’t come back with how to do something better, and provide examples (in at least picture format), then you’re already doing way better than they are.
what temperature u have on ur iron solder?
Should never place RX antenna along the carbon fiber frame. Carbon fiber conducts electricity and will ground out your receiver signal. Antennas should always be isolated from quad frames. Great build !
does the esc allow you to reverse motor direction or must you establish rotation direction first before soddering
HD flight footage?
Rx antennae along the CF frame…… nice.
What camera are you using to shoot this video?
Some links no longer work
Dude TOO much solder. Use some braid and clean that up, no??
I know this is an old video, but thank you once again for showing us your build. I just built the XL7, with Taranis
sorry hit the wrong button…with taranis R9M and R9mm reciever. Matek fchub-vtx, Matek F405 STD, Lumenier 36A BLHELI32 ESC, paired to Engineer X
1750kv on 4s is pulling 100amps full punch, on 6s the poor HQ DP7x3.5×3 props flex and squeel like a pig pulling 156 amps!
flight times have been over 10 minutes on 1550mAh 4s, and I the 6s flew this morning for 11 minutes and used 770mAh. So the verdict is still out on which will give longer flight times, obviously the 1300mAh battery has more Amp Hours but is heavier.
Where I can download beta flight app
is there a reason why ESC goes on bottom? Since ESC are the ones that get heated why not have them on top to get it cooled better…..
Nice build, but this is no LongRange.. no CrossFire or R9M.. no “Must” GPS module, no autonomus Buzzer, no good VTX antena.. that stock antena will not be good for 500m+ that build will not reach 1km without failsafe…
Failsafe much with that rx antenna placement?
Great video man very helpful.. great step by step..
So I am a freelance photographer, I am wanting to bring my career to the next level with drone photography.
I dont have the thousands of dollars to buy even one of the cheap cinematic drones, would you be willing to contact me and help me design a long range drone? I have the idea of what I need but not the knowledge on the parts I need.
love the videos, but we never actually see anything in the air???
REALLY surprised after all the amazing builds, and knowledge that you have, to see you mount an antenna against a carbon frame!
Helo sir i want to make a drone i want to contact with u so please contact with me

How would you build a fpv quad that just focused on range and distance and not so much the speed?? Bigger transmitter with bigger blades and small motors since you dont want it to go crazy fast? How would you build it?
For anyone watching this that is new to the hobby, keep your antennas as far away from the frame as possible. Also, invest in a quality VTX antenna.
How does he tell the direction of the motors? the wires are all black. and is there such a thing as an all in one board like the stack he used but with better esc’s?
@anyshitt To determine motor direction, REMOVE THE PROPS, connect your battery, connect to BLHeli, select the motors tab, acknowledge that the props are removed, slowly spin the motors and gently touch each bell housing to feel its direction. If a motor is spinning in the wrong direction, use BLHeli to reverse the motor direction. I don’t know of any truly all-in-one boards except for some tiny whoop AIO boards. Most are a FC/ESC stack and a few stacks will also include a VTX. Happy New Year!
@anyshitt Also, you may want to check out fpvknowitall.com for mini quad parts recommendations and reviews.
What I learnt is that the video antenna and the receiver will not make it even 100 yards
