Thx for the video. How difficult is it to set up a basic 4 or 5 channel airplane with open tx? I thought I saw that it has some sort of wizard that makes it simple. I’m just flying basic planes.
Nice comparison Andrew! I only have a PL18 and a DX6i, so not much to compare, but you are spot on with the quality of the PL18. Its a very nice radio, but as you say the FW is still a work in progress and the latest release hasn’t helped. It does have the FlySky assistant software to backup and restore models, but no configuration. Have a great day ?
A lot of this is “Greek” to me, but it definitely will point me in in the right direction. Thanx ! – Robert
Congrads on getting to 50K subscribers ! – Robert
you can replace the switches in the Taranis with Horus Switches. Much better quality.
Hi Andrew. Now you’ve done a comparison of radios, it’s time to compare receivers. I currently fly Spektrum (DX9) but now I’m getting into flight-controllers, I’m encountering two problems with that radio: One, I’m running short of channels to utilise the programmable features on the FC and two, I can’t find any inexpensive DSMX receivers (or Spektrum models for that matter) that have a serial output. (SRXL, in Spektrumese.) Cheers!
Having dunked a DX8 in salt water, I now use the FS-i6 for RC sailing; cheap and has all the features I need. I fly planes with a DX9; expensive but defines quality. I fly quads with a TX16S with the TBS Micro TX in the back. If I started today I would buy the TX16S for all flying; great value for $$$.
I own the jumper t8sg, jumper t16 pro, flysky i6, jumper t18 pro, and the radiomaster tx16s! Out of them all…… I choose the radiomaster over all the others by far!!! I’m just going to sell the rest.
Speaking of the OpenTX steep learning curve, how about some Newton Airlines OpenTX Tips & Tricks? I find I do initial model setup on the computer and then making some additional programming, like Expo, on the radio itself. I then keep all my models in a handy folder. It also makes swapping different models in and out of the radio if wanted. Great video!

Ordered t16s but processing time on bg today is a joke
Great review. very informative
? you’ve got too many ?
went to several radios, ended up going back to my FlySky i10, just love the simple functions
Another excellent review covering an almost impossible subject area [to cover in 20 minutes at least]. Having the TX16s, X9D+,Jumpert16 and Dx6 as my main radios I have settles into using my radiomaster as my current daily driver. It seems to do the trick for me.
Again great video.
It really is a shame that FlySky has made toy looking transmitters in the past. The protocol has always been superior to FrSky. For 35 USD you get a transmitter capable of 4Km range and Crossfire level latency right out of the box. You don’t have to worry about inverted/non-inverted with iBus. With custom firmware you have 10 channels, complete telemetry, and many additional settings on a transmitter that kids, and small adults, can handle easily. I have a Q X7 now as my main controller, but for those of us who grew up with cheap FlySky, we scratch our heads when the FrSky fanboys talk about failsafe. What is this failsafe you speak of?!? LOL
You forgot to look at the T18. A clear winner as far as I’m concerned. Much nicer design than the TX16S. Getting excellent range with the internal module and pcb antenna. Replaces my T16 and 9XR Pro. Well satisfied with it.
