HiSky HMX280 comes with big promises from company but disappoints us big time seeing none of their claims come true. Company claims that this quadcopter can do 100km per hour speed flights, which turns out to be totally wrong. Flight controller is totally not tweaked right and not suitable for high speed flying.
But when it comes to having a Ready to fly Cheap Quadcopter that you can use to practice flying proximity FPV and FPV racing with mild speeds using your own FPV Gear, HiSky HMX280 will do the job.
Honestly though, this Quad had nothing to impress me apart from its durability and a bit of faster speed compared to other toy grade quadcopters. Enjoy the video review and if you want to get into FPV Racing, take my advice and invest in a quality and a proper FPV Racing quadcopter kit.

Hee.. You actually got a manual with it..
You do know that this quad actually Does have a CC3D controller? I’ll have to clock the speed of mine.. It does seem pretty fast..
Have you changed things in the transmitter? Mine came set for a helicopter.. Which is completely wrong offcourse..
And I changed all flight-modes settings to my liking offcourse..
It’s not water-proof by the way
+DutchRC ADVENTURES ps: and you are right: I wouldn’t call this an FPV racer eighter.. It’s more for people that want a nice looking quad with reasonable specs..

I heard you say a couple times that it’s not good like cc3d but that’s what is inside the hmx280 is cc3d flight controller
yes wasn’t happy with this review it does have cc3d and it does fly in full manual as I have seen with other reviews

What a ridiculous review, what’s all your constant babbling about “FPV Racing”? No where is it advertised as such. And of course your usual ‘toy’ denigrating comments. It comes with a fully configurable, real transmitter (HobbyKing sells their own rebadged version) that with the addition of extra RXs (cheap at Banggppd) can be used for many scratchbuilts, it has a CC3D and brushless motors. HiSky has done a nice job of providing a versatile and affordable hobby grade quadcopter priced for the masses. Looks good too.
+GetRC NOW Thanks for your comment. but honestly, its not as good as they advertised it. Viewers and customers be warned, not to waste money on this crap

+george aura guess i have to do a part 2 of review after tweaking the CC3D and getting rid of that crappy radio

I talked with the designer of the quad, and he said himself that he had no Idea where they got that figure from of 100kph. But he left the company before it was released.
I actually think that a brushless 250 size quad, It is incredibly good value. It has cc3d build in as well.

+NELICOPTER (was da) Oh, by the way, definitly don’t fly it in rain. It will die.

That last comment at 5:52 doesn’t really make any sense. Of course you want it to return to level in stabilize mode, that’s what stabilized mode is for. I agree with you that rate mode should be all you, but angle mode should auto-level.
Also, what size are the motors? Do they support 4s? I don’t see it doing 100 kph on that 25c 3s battery but maybe on a good 4s it might if the motors can handle it. You should get a radar gun if you’re going to review products based on speed. Just saying “it doesn’t feel like 100 kph is kinda lame, how fast IS it then?
I don’t really consider this toy grade. Whether or not it’s doing 100 kph it’s pretty fast, and those props and brushless motors will do some serious damage if you hit a person or property.
Have a great new week Ali 🙂
Hi Mr.Ali how about for newbe you can recomend this quad?
Looks like a blade 200QX
Wait, I thought it came with a CC3D? I wish I had bought this for cheaper instead of my zmr250 kit, which didn’t go together as easily as I thought and doesn’t fly reliably. Hmm, I wonder if you can add your own receiver to this Hisky quad…
Dude don’t fly that thing in the rain. All the advertisements tell you it isn’t waterproof. I wouldn’t even trust it being water resistant either. Ive flown 3 of my quads into water and they no worky no more.
Ali, no offense, but if you are trying to test speed of a quad you should have a device that track speed like a radar gun or flytrex. To say “it doesn’t feel” is not a good basis. Though i know you know your stuff, but that doesn’t show what is the actual speed of the the quad.

what if it is terminal velocity? fly up really high and cut the motors and measure the speed….
qua hay
Ali this one does come with a mod version of the CC3D 😉 Regarding the 100Km, not sure whether that was ever an official statement. Cheers.
This thing flies great! Don’t understand your awfull review. It’s not crap! It’s very fast and is CC3D!! So please next time do you homework!
(love your channel but this is ridiculous, please be objective)
This is what happens when marketing has no idea what’s going on. There is no instance where the quad was clocked at 100km/h.
With regards to tuning, I think they dumbed down my final tuning of the quad after I left, but I’m pretty sure either you were in the wrong flight mode or something was not set-up right in the transmitter…
Stabilized mode IS supposed to make the quad self center, and 3 axis rate mode IS all manual. I think in your video you might have been in stabilized mode, but thought you were in rate mode.
In my original tuning of the quad, I had one of the flight modes as Ratitude mode, not sure if they kept that… if so, you might’ve been in that mode, which might have been a little confusing if you couldn’t read the manual, understandably.
And no, this quad is NOT designed for full on FPV racing… it’s more of a sport quad with a CC3D controller. If you want to put on some FPV gear that’s fine, but comparing it with a full on CF racer is like comparing apples to oranges.
Maybe you were expecting it to be something other than what it was designed to be, thus the disappointment. Either way, thanks for trying it out.
Plug a DSMX satellite on it if you want to fly it with a better radio… it really does make a world of difference.
I have high respect for your reviews, but wonder if it’s really fair for you to call this product “crap” based on your current understanding of the product?
p.s. the quad is not weatherproof

Like your proporganda shirt, and yeah USA drones, is bad mtf’er.. partically for those who wanne kill any other, that doesnt belongs to ones own religion.. but religius-people acting like imbecils, is not the topic, here shirt or not..assalamu alaikum to the joy of RC and pure Hisky Quad, it seems it was going to hit the ground at one time or the next….
+alishanmao you seem very fare from objective ( sorry if this was not a freebie and have to put own money behind it)… but come on’ it can be optain for 144$ incl. shipping for the full RTFmodel at the moment, and for that Price you pretty much kidding yourself ‘ if you expected a lot more, then what your getting. – CRAP? in regards to what ‘ at this brushless RTF pricelevel (incl. shipping)? / just the shipping would be 100$ from DK to CN..put your expectations in regards to the Price, and not blindly believe information or proporganda that seems to good to be true.. its crap because of what, that your misundeerstood the item and the possiblelities with it and that you can tweak the CC3D controller!!!. immature behavior
+Jakob H. try it yourself and when you get disappointed, come here and remove your comment.

So that’s where my airsoft lipo battery went ?
I’ve noticed in a lot of your videos you really don’t know the specs or some of the basic facts about the quad you are reviewing. not just here. I’m not piling on just a little constructive criticism about things like knowing it had ccd board and Linhas your syma review upgraded model was because the first version had problems in wind not size difference and knowing that xk is wl toys premium brand that’s why the same quadas the 303 and xk detect
nice review
nice video. thanks
please do a review on the Xiro Xplorer v

+alishanmao Google has a translation app. Just for kicks try it. I know you don’t really need it.
It can
Please do a follow-up with the PropS QUALITY AND POSSBLE substitute like HQ props 6X45 Dal 6X45.Thanks,, Subscribing !!!
+video9009 I agree.. I’ve seen several reviews of this quad, and every other reviewer LOVED it. Flys amazingly well, but yeah, it’s not for FPV… so? Where did they state that it’s an excellent FPV quad?
For the price, I haven’t found a better built speed quad.
Also, put a radar gun on it, or something… simply saying it doesn’t feel like 100km doesn’t seem right. One reviewer tested it’s speed and showed it clocked at 58mph. Maybe not 100km, but pretty darn close! (100km is 62mph)
Can it carry a gimbal?
Hi there Hisky expert, after I did firmware upgraded for my HISKY HMX280 using Openpilot v15.02.02 (supports CC3D) the transmitter fail to binding to the Quadcopter and it doesn’t work at all. What can I do with the transmitter? Do anyone have a good advice and solution please!
*I went through steps by clicked on Vehicle Setup Wizard and pick the following options:
-PPM protocol
-RAPID ESC (490Hz Rate)
-Droneframes DRQ 250CF
+delonte myers BangGood $166 USD Ebay about $190.00
+alishanmao I just purchased one, When It gets here, I will come back and let all know what I really think. I think I have seen most of the reviews now, and still decided to purchase it. My race quad is Walkera f210. I am not a pro, though I like to fly different quads.
Have you reviewed the N7C Monster drone?
What is the verdict?
What is a race eighter? By the way, didn’t you GPS it at around 96km/hr on your vid?
How’s this for just $95 at Geekbuying?
Hey Ali, Greetings from Ford City PA, USA,yeah that thing is fast, but not as fast as my zmr 250 and my qav 250,the one has a kk2 board, and the other one has a cc3d flight controller,do you build quads as well from kits, and add your own motors and esc and so on?Keep the awesome videos coming.
Which is faster? This one or xk x350?
Are there any good clear instructions on what each controls does
