Poor weather conditions that day, with an average wind speed of about 35km / h
Return flight speed downwind 70 + km / h
Total flight time 63 minutes
Replace the battery voltage back to the original 3S
Testing has come to an end
Reference device is described in the video
sorry i trie to understand what is special,,is this cause she do a long run
with just battery ?
hard to understand cause i speak french
Awsome! What did you use for fpv ?
( video tx/rx antennas) ?!!!
Your video was my main inspiration for my long range long autonomy cheap
quad based on the almost same motors, afro slim esc, 3x4S 5Ah batteries and
16″ APC propellers, I think my drone is heavier than yours but I hardly fly
more than 35min and with a total distance of 25-30km… Thant means you
still DOUBLE my specs!!
Cool, whats your spec then?
I made a video about it :
look how little energy it uses, love it
90% efficiency i would imagine !!!
i believe that you used 4x 5000mah batteries, one for each motor and that
you only had one VoltageMeter, becuase the drawn amps in the corner don´t
reach the 20,000mah promised but a 4th of it….
Wow , nice work …. Very efficient build you did there
This is awesome. Would you mind telling me what motors and esc you are
using please? Thanks
nice!
set up info?
Sort out your crap video link. Ever heard of an LC filter?
I love the music :-)
i love low KV fat motors
Can your configuration do up to 50km? If not what configuration do you
think would?
what FC , Frame , Motor and battery you use ?
hi just wondering what brand of drone this is very nice
What is the FPV video link? Is it digital or an analog link?
What frequency do you use for transmitting your FPV link? Do you know the
current draw of it?
I am an RF engineer and trying to calculate current consumption to design a
low current, high power output network device with video storage buffer and
network control. If you’re interested, I can go into further detail. It
will be licensed and unlicensed frequency band, but will have the ability
to send buffered packets back for real time monitoring as well as other
functions.
I know you haven’t responded to a lot of questions, so if this is ignored,
I understand. I have another channel which receives a ton of comments and
they’re a pain to answer at times. Thanks for your video.. inspiring, but
makes me worry about power consumption unless it is variable and I use
higher gain antennas.
+Ralf Englert In Europe its 25mW not 10. I never see a downlink with only
10 😉
+Ralf Englert True – as long as you don´t have a ham radio license ….
(1.2GHz is 23cm amateur radio band – have a look on the band plan to know
what frequencies to use exactly) you´re probably allowed to transmit up to
200W like me ^^
kindly let us know what r ur settings/specs etc etc to cope up on a long
distance flight like this. SHARE MAN DONT HAVE FUN ALONE LET THE WORLD BE
PART OF UR HAPPINESS! nice job and more power!!
What is the music track – great Video
what osd?
can you post your specs battery motors etc.
Ok, could someone please explain the battery set up on this rig… Are you
using 18650b’s? My ecalc is having a hard time getting any good flight time
out of lipos and 17″ props. Possibly lifepo4’s?
what song is this?
I need quadcopter like that how much if you sell?.
waaaaaaaaaah 63 minutes total flying ? i’ve got just one question.. WHAT IS
YOUR MAGIC CONFIG ? ^^
+Aircommando Walldorf where?
+alexdemarck That’s not a magic. My latest result was 62 minutes and 54km
of distance travelled on a single battery charge.
yes, but you did not answer the question 🙂
Whats the not magic setup? 🙂
Hehehe =D ??
+Henrik Håvardsholm mn3110-26 kv470 and 15.x6.5. And a BIG battery 🙂
Nothing unusual 🙂
lordy loo! what setup are you using? :O
BS
Awesome!! I’ve very interested in your specifications for this.. please
share..
Mmmm….I would have thought that with all that water vapour in the air at
those RF frequencies the effective radiated power outputs would be somewhat
reduced therefore I’m a bit wary about the validity of these reported
ranges, I’d have to witness this to believe it I think!
The AMA has had a nice long standing peace with the FAA to stay the fuck
out of the model world and we promised a few things. Two of them were that
we would stay UNDER 400 feet and the other is that we would not go out of
line of sight. With FPV becoming so popular (and I get why it’s so popular,
I wanna build a FPV race quad) and people going too high and flying in
places they’re not supposed to, the FAA has decided to reevaluate their
rules on modelers. Not just drone pilots will be affected by these new
guidelines, even RC helicopter pilots like myself will likely suffer these
new regulations. I would say do us all a favor and try not to be crazy and
they will leave us alone but I think it’s too late… All I can say now is,
be ready for the new laws that will probably come out in 2015 regarding
model flight in the US.
The FAA cannot make laws, only regulations. Only congress can make and pass
laws. Government agencies that make regulations are parallel with what
dictatorships are. Trying to appease them will get you no where. What,
don’t ever do something because we don’t want them to tell us we are not
allowed to do it if we do? That makes sense. If the regulations they impose
on us were so smart they shouldn’t have any trouble passing as a real law
the way our constitution supposedly requires.
Think about what people are saying to the guys that fly rc’s out of sight
and really high. “Hey that is not smart, you could kill someone or a bunch
of people in an airplane!” Well who is smart? His feet are on the ground,
and is somehow responsible for the safety of hundreds of people that on
their own will boarded an aircraft that is not in their control that is
apparently able to be taken down by 2 lbs of plastic?
That is fucking impressive!!! This is something I’d love to have, even 5km
range would be great.
What transmitter output power were you using on the video feed and the
remote? I love the hook-ins (GPS, alt etc).
Just a thought, have you tried sending a mate up into the air around 400m
in a fixed hover with a repeater for the video feed to have 20km out 600m
up to above 400m up? Would give two absolute direct legs and greatly
increase the reception of the video feed that got rather shady 20km out.
With a good few kilo extra payload ability that would be handy to go down
the street for a bottle of milk rofl.
Are these things able to hover still with just an adjustment wheel say of
the elevator (where you thump the wheel up to elevate than back slightly to
hover)? Obviously wind would be a factor if there was wind but with a
similar video link ability I’m sure it would be easy to correct the
position regularly.
+Glen O’Riley Fatshark has a 25mW TX. I’m not sure about 160mhz but, 460mhz
depends on your country’s radio law, and Dragon link is expensive as hell.
If you have the money, go for dragon link, your battery will go out before
it does.
You act like you’re not being greedy but you are 5km is 5000 meters do you
know how much it would cost to get a 5km distance quadcopter
+Deadlygaming
No I don’t because I’m not up in the costings for transmission equipment in
hobbies. I know what two way radios cost that are relevant to me but not
hobby/model radio stuff.
This is just one reason why I’ve asked in a few places about power output
on the 5+km range gear (comparing say 5w 477mhz off a mobile antenna
averages 5km for most here). Also asked about repeaters for at least the
camera off the unit. Since these things can self hover, a repeater hung
under the belly of a quad about 100m up in the air would make a perfect
repeater location for extended reach if the repeaters are easy enough to
make.
with baromic altitude or ultrasound sensors you can control / lock height
+Glen O’Riley even 2km is about great for me
That is fucking impressive!!! This is something I’d love to have, even 5km range would be great.

Mate that’s fantastic! That’s my 1st time to see a MultiRotor fly 20klms.
Very impressive!
I’ve got similar motors (4830-420kv) running 6S on my Y6 Trooper and they
are super efficient! I can get 35 minutes with 16,000mAh 6S pack!
What airframe did you use?

A 22km 6amp quad? Wonder why the idbbx doesn’t reply to comments?
+paulkazjack he uses the classic 5010-14 motors that have very low Amp
usage and he hides the battery he used with the FPV screen on purpose…
its propably a 18650 custom made battery… it’s very easy for anyone to
make a setup like this
+Ioannis Koukouzis how do I get long flight times with a hex which need to
carry 2kg payload excluding batt? Any page links?
for that kind of a copter you need high power and big batteries…. the
setup on the video is for very light copter and Li-Ion batteries of 18650
type which can withstand a deep discharge under 3.3V…
+Ioannis Koukouzis Check out my channel. Already did that 🙂
+paulkazjack Good question. The current draw seems strangely low. That
could be if AUW of his quad was about 1kg or less – hardly possible. Mine
consumes about 19A, but I’ve put inside a really huge battery 🙂
I am not at all convinced by this.

how do you make a cheap quadcopter go far?
Attach it to an expensive quadcopter.
troll
+Atradies Inc. “Throw money at it” is an alternative answer. The point is
that it takes money to fly long distance. Adding long-distance capability
to a cheap quad makes it an expensive quad.
I seen people taking old routers with 2.4 GHz antennas and making them
longer distance.
+Mike L so if you have money to throw at it. What are your suggestions?

For me, a quadcopter with 1.5-2 km range distance, 100 mts heigth, and 30
minuts fligth could be great. But your quad is very fantastic.

Are you in taichung area?
Monitor on top right showing 692m. Where did it show 20km?

You just converted me into a believer brother. this is amazing. you gonna
have to hook me up soon. peace out man.

how you constructed ?

Just did some simple math… and seems like this video is fake. And that’s why. Power for hovering is about 70 Watt. Let’s suppose he achieved a very high efficiency for a multirotor, something like 14 gram/Watt. From here we can get the AUW of his copter. it’s 980 gram. For the entire flight his copter comsumed 6700 mah. Let’s suppose he discharged the pack “to zero”, so the capacity results to be about 7000 mah. Let’s put on the weights all the components: 80 gram each motor, 10 ESC, 30 each prop, 15 for camera, FC is 20 gramm, VTX is 20 + 10 for antenna, RC RX with antennas is about 30 gram. So total: 320+40+120+15+20+20+10+30 = 575 gram. Let’s suppose the frame weighs almost nothing, smth about 200 gramm all in all )) So for the battery we have 980 – 575 – 200 = 205 gram. Since it’s a 3S battery, the energy density is 11.1*7/0.2 = 388.5 Watt*h/kg And this is a f..ing miracle!!! Could somebody point me to a shop where I can buy such a pack?! I’ll immediately buy a wagon of them!))

Hi friend.
Are you using lipo or li-ion battery? What’s the Amp of these battery?
Great vid I subscribed.
i want to buy this . plzz tell me how can buy. i am from india

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooood !!!!!!!!
i look for this frame but i didnt found….could you send you a link ?
What is it name ? I love it and i want to have one
I call BS! Won’t supply details of build to support claim. Only thing he was successful at was special effects in the video.
Plzz what is type of fpv and booster wifi you use????
lächerlich……….
@william jackson: Are you surprised? In Italy, in 2013 and 2015 the equivalent of your FAA (here’s called ENAC) made a regulation (here what they say IS law) that force RC pilots to fly “on sight” (NO USE of FPV, except for PROFESSIONAL purposes), models have to “be seen” as per aircraft and much more. This is only for those who are NOT using it as permanent occupation. For those who work with them there is even more (taxes included). I don’t remember the maximum distance you can fly models in Italy but it should be the same as US.
THATS A FCKN JOKE !!!!!!
+Atradies Inc. look for coiled antennas and read up on how exactly they work. Basically any normal antenna (like the clover leaf ones) has a spherical area of effect around it where it is able to send and pick up signals. A coiled antenna (with equal electronic specs) will increase the range but only in one direction, while decreasing its range in the opposite direction. These antennas aren’t that expensive and as far as I know, they can double or triple your range (in the direction you’re pointing that antenna) without having to add anything besides those antennas.
But read up on this subject, there is more to it than what I just said.
+parajared fpv Also I didn’t mention that 1kg copter on 17″ props should be VERY unstable even with no wind, because it’s just too light to hover in 40-60% throttle range. It should hover at 25% if not 20% and lower, which is way too low for most of currently known flight controllers. And with wind the situation will get only worse. Regarding the 2nd part of your question… I generally fly at 50-55kph and achieve smth about 9-9.5 gr/wt. I would also be glad to know a motor/prop combination doing 11 gr/wt 😉
+Long Range Quadcopter
Oh yeah at the end of the video he posts about using 17 inch props lol. Yep busted!
-17″ props pitched for 50kph that only draw 2amps per motor in forward flight is complete hogwash
-he posts about having an AUW of 1500 grams (at the bottom of the page in response to Jo sh)
wow, 21 grams of thrust per watt, that IS impressive!
Sorry, you are totally right about him being a phoney. 70 watts is both his hover and his 50 kph (averaged) forward flight watt draw (if we go by 0:44 and 7:59 to get a gauge of hover). I have never seen a quadcopter that hovers at the same or more watt draw as forward flight.
Google translate quotes his responses as answers involving him bragging about how his “skill” was the determining factor in his success, rather than say hard work and engineering, also when questioned about his rather magical achievement seemingly answered with some kind of insult about go play in a sandbox like a kid and “from now on I’m not answering any further questions!”
For anyone still not getting it he quotes his motors as being 490 kv motors but this is what the specs on a 490kv motor actually looks like (they don’t post 3s tests because it’s so far out of realistic range, but they post 4s results)

+parajared fpv in other words, there're too many inconsistencies between his words and OSD readings, so at least for me it's all clear. Never mind, all this story is already buried in the past 😉 Now I aim at 25-27km range which also not seems impossible.
+Mạnh Hùng Lâm There is no such quadcopter on the market you can only make one yourself.
Can you send me the configuration ? motor, battery, esc ?? tks
2263.77 feet stupid high great vid, this is my dream flight
+Mike L Best answer lol XD
On you opinion how is the best?
or
omg u do it on 3S… ppl with 6S only can do 15kmh… u relly pro mannn!!!!
He was probably carried by high winds!
how much price of this camera ?
if you could bring it back after that, i would be amazed.
if you could bring it back after that, i would be amazed.
is it for sale?
Crap! Now I feel silly for thinking this was real for all this time. I assumed it was something similar to EndOfDays quad from RC Groups, only equipped with FPV. Great job with the debunking. I’m glad I no longer believe this hoax, thanks.
so this is ok to collect cigarrets from shop?

hey I feel you there, too much (FAR too much) in Australia is “Americanised”. Our radio laws, many of our other laws (except free speech and guns grrr) and the number of dumbfucks who can’t differentiate that “halloween” trick or treating is American not fucking Australian is disgusting. Everyone has forgotten the TRUE meaning of all hallows eve, the night when noone should be out.
Spelling and everything else is becoming “Americanised” by too many as well who are too stupid to know the difference between colour and color for example.
1w max out put any frequency and you have to have the drone in view ,there is our law

I wonder if FPV could be declared “in view”?
nop.look on the page they say it…lol
