This video was enough for me to stay away from TBS in the future. Trappy is such a moron. Respect for Josh
I don’t think Josh is to blame for sales losses, I’d go with the fact Triumphs are heavy and the current trend is in micros where cheap dipoles perform on par… The scene is not moving towards long range HD downlink either, but some guys are gonna lose money developing that too…
I trust josh, trappy seems like a punk.
If I was employed by TBS, I would still keep my app out there. What a horrible “Ambassador” to his own company, this “Trappy” goon is. What an embarrassment to everyone that works for him. After reading just a few of his responses to his own customers, I have yet to run across such brazen contempt for customers who critique his company’s products. I won’t question his academia but, he seems to have the intellect of a 12 year old. For the sake of his shareholders, he needs handlers…
There are definitely very differences in tests. We have BENCH type tests where the equipment is tested the way it was designed and then real world testing. For example, drop tests of laptops are usually done in a controlled environment. The laptop has a specific angle in which it is dropped. This is usually dropped on the strongest corner in an angle which would be the strongest for the frame to support. In real life, my laptop goes flying off the hood of my car at maybe 4′. The company says it has done drop tests up to 8′. Well, my laptop breaks into pieces, and only fell 1/2 way. I think Trappy was correct in what he was saying and Josh is also correct. I think they are talking two different settings.
I use a 960H surveillance dvr and it records nicely… better than fatshark goggles dvr…. and it records 4 peoples stuff at a time….
and these dvr’s in the fatshark goggles and everyother monitor and what not.. need to be upgraded… analog video is bad enough than to have a dvr making it worse…
Bardwell is just a legend, lol
Wrt Trappy’s argument that we can’t make comparisons in an uncontrolled real-world environment (approx 19:35):
First, we only fly in uncontrolled real-world environments, so real-world testing is critical. In fact, performance in a precisely controlled lab may or may not have ANY validity in the real world!
Second, uncontrolled real-world tests can be valid, but they require more data. What I mean by that is the test scenario should be repeated as many times as possible, scored, and then an average taken. As you perform more tests, the variability due to uncontrolled conditions begins to average out, leaving real differences (or similarities). If, as Trappy argued, the signal loss would be random, or as he stated “a flip of a coin”, performing the test multiple times, coming up with an objective scoring method, and then averaging scores, would put this argument to rest.
welcome to FPV world, where no matter what you do, someone will tell you are doing wrong
i bet Trappy wishes he had sent Joshua a bunch of free stuff like he does everyone else that has influence in FPV. If anyone benefits from bias, it’s Trappy.
Yes, I fly non – line of sight often.Thank you Josh for an unbiased test in a real world environment.
Josh flew in the conditions that I fly in… So Pagoda it is. The idea is not to make the best antenna. It’s to make the antenna that works the best for your target market.
Unless a test took place in a specialized facility with precise controls, I don’t see it as much more than an opinion.
Nguyen is Vietnamese
Trappy Vs Josh Bardwell – Winner = VEK 😉
Awesome talk guys! And yeah we all have our different opinions but we all can get along, with some diplomacy and a bit of good ol’ sense. Trappy and Josh just gave us a lesson about that in this podcast. Thanks!
I see both sides and like any test or measure that is subjective there is no “winner” or “loser” just data
Every American needs to Look up John Taylor Vs FAA on you-tube Want to have FPV be legal again? Want to stop this registration of every craft and fees? “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing” Go To the AMA website and give them your email and name and Tell them to support John Taylor vs the FAA or we will forever lose our rights and be charged for every craft to licence from now on. How about making FPV legal again? Be able to fly past line of site like 99% of the rest of the world! Maybe a 1 time fee instead of every model/quad for every year or3 ? It took me almost 2 minutes. Be respectful but let them know we are pissed at them and demand their support of John Taylor a true american Patriot! Why does John have to do the worthless AMA’s job for them? He is just an average american. They prolly take in millions 4 What? Look up Xjets video you will see. I bet John Smith has some huge lawyer bills too.
