Catalyst Machineworks is promoting the idea of 6S/low-kv. This means that you INCREASE your battery voltage to 6S, but you DECREASE your motor kv to keep the rpm at the prop the same. So what’s the point? Higher voltage results in lower amps, less voltage sag, cooler-running components, and longer flight time. OR SO THEY SAY.
Today I’ve invited one of the fastest pilots in the world, Evan Turner (HeadsUpFPV) to help test the idea. We’ve got two nearly-identical quads, one running on 4S and one running on 6S, and we’re going to put them against each other and see what the differences are.

3d plane and heli guys moved past 4s years ago and swapped to 6s. You guys figured this out about seven years too late, and want to analyze it like it’s a new thing.
That slalom technique is really insane! He’s going more sideways than forwards. That kid is pretty bloody amazing.
Moving to 6S isn’t some new breakthrough. Your just trading current for voltage to get the same watts. In fact the reasons why its beneficial applies to all electrical devices and has been implemented for several years. Handling higher voltages is generally much easier on components than higher current.
