MODEL AIRCRAFT DEFINED >A model aircraft is a small sized unmanned aircraft or, in the case of a scale model, a replica of an existing or imaginary aircraft.
That means fixed wing – helicopters – quadcopters – tricopters – along with many other style Imaginary Aircraft….
and they ALL are TRADITIONAL AIRCRAFT…as tradition is defined as>>>customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on………time to wake up to reality and understand the definition of what WE ALL Fly .
I AM A MODEL AVIATOR……..as DEFINED !!!
AND it was and still is NOT just aero-club areas that fly safely…millions fly all over the Nation and fly without crashing into each other, fellow pilots, tents, automobiles, crowds of people and each other on the ground that many YOU TUBE aero-club videos show….SO…it is not a camera drone or someone else’s fault….there are people who do stupid things everywhere , including your so called Safe aero-club locations
AND Fyi…people flew long before aero-clubs grew …. and even MORE fly today and do so safely outside them…..stop the lies and learn what Model aircraft is by definition…start there first
Why are fixed wing guys ok but fpv guys we need it ? If its good for me its good for you i think its crap for the entire hobby
FYI, Those of us who fly FPV drones are model aviation as well. So are those who fly camera drones. So are those who fly helicopters. Don’t segregate model aviation.
Thank you for making this statement. This is an amazing video in defense of hobby flight and the family we have all found in these hobbies. Us at “Help save our hobby” are organizing a peaceful protest and show of community in support of preserving access to hobby flight and public airspace. This will take place in Hancock Park, Washington DC on February 29th. It will be a family friendly event where the hobby flight community can come together to have a voice, while drawing attention to the NPRM, and the ability to comment on it. We hope this inside outside pressure helps the FAA make the right decision to preserve access to this amazing technology and sport that has grown out of so many diverse and important communities we are all a part of.
After finding this video on Facebook on an FAA post, I have subscribed! This was a great message. I’m happy that videos like this are being made to protect my beloved hobby. Although I fly with a camera on my aircraft I have always done so safely and with a spotter. I am glad that this video does not label me, the 18yr model aviation pilot an enemy because I now fly FPV. Take a minute and watch any one of my videos and I’m sure you’ll understand why model aviation is important to me and my family.

You guys need to start remembering that the U.S. is not the only country. You need to start using the words – The whole wide world. Take that to the FAA and it will give your fight much more weight. What happens in the U.S will have a profound affect on the rest of the world. You need to start using other countries as examples of how we get around the problem. The AMA needs to look outside the U.S. border and cite examples.
Good comments. Nevertheless, segregation of users of what is our collective airspace plays too well into the intended outcomes for the Commercial Drone Alliance. We have a collective challenge. Self-divided, we shall all fail. Just saying.

Generally a good video. I will only say that trying to divide yourself from other forms of model aviation (like the AMA has done for many years) will only ensure the fight will be lost. We are all in it together and should act as one. Powered fixed wing, glider, helicopter, DJI pilots, commercial drone operators, FPV pilots. We are all the same and all have an amazing safety record while essentially self regulating ourselves. Together we stand or divided we fall.

I will be writing to the FAA to protest this infringement on our hobby (AMA member since 1975). It will do nothing to improve safety as the hobby already has a great track record under the auspices of the AMA. It will do nothing to stop the idiots that will continue to fly in a reckless manner using untraceable UAV’s. (This sounds remarkably like the argument against another type of government control, doesn’t it?)
Model Aviation should be BANNED completely. This hobby contributes to global warming not only through the use of energy in the model airplanes but also as the enthusiasts drive to flying sites. Support The Green New Deal. Vote blue in November. Sanders 2020
